" think the SST gearbox are based on (if not sourced from) Getrag DCT as bigwigs at Mitsubishi denied that it’s a DSG or a DSG derived transmission. Plus the new getrag DCT are touted to be able to handle up to 750nm of torque which is pretty logical choice for Mitsu since we know that tuners will mess with this car engine barely 1 week after it’s release. You can read the research article at just-auto.com"

I hope this is true, quoted from page above, if it is we have no worries about upgradeing and can have a 500 horse SST ;].
I hope that's true too.

We could only hope that the SST will handle some power, but I am sure that we will find out one way or another once the MR hits the states.

You would have to think that the SST wouls actually have fewer problems then a normal standard tranny due to the fact that the human equasion is removed from the picture i.e. no hard launches, no clutch abuse, no missed shifts, no hard or "slam" shifts, etc. This is of course assuming that the SST will have no glitches from the factory.

Well you KNOW it can't be 2 gears up or down since that would require selection of a gear controlled by the currently engaged clutch...so the only time it could possibly select another gear more than 1 away from the current gear would be switching between 1st and 4th, 2nd and 5th, and 3rd and 6th. considering the complexity of the gearbox, as for whether the logic would ever happen, i would personally be surprised if this never happened in any of the shift maps when in automatic mode, especially the fuel sipper map, but that's just my wild assumption...
EDIT: I'm referring to the TC-SST here, not the DSG.

sigh...

THIS video shows the SST skipping gears in normal mode. look towards the middle where they do 0-400m runs in all 3 modes. when they slow down you can clearly see the numbers change and SKIP gears. it goes from 5 to 2 so what more proof do you need?

the OTHER video is proof that the DSG a form of DCT uses electro-hydraulic actuation of shift forks thus NOT being a true sequential transmission. VW calls this system mechatonics.

the DIAGRAM posted after the DSG video is PROOF that the SST is not dissimilar to the DSG. it CLEARLY shows that the shift forks are INDEPENDENTLY hyraulically actuated and again PROVES that this is NO sequential tranny.

this will be my last post on the subject. i hope somebody out there found this info useful...

Seriously, people are posting wikipedia and internet auto news blogs as actual sources? Remember how much misinformation came out even in otherwise trustworthy media about ACD when it first arrived?

If you put the sst in s-sport mode and turn the traction control completely off (Hold down till display shows crashing car pic). Put your foot on the brake and nail the gas. wait as it will stop at about 2K5 RPM for about 2 seconds then it will go to 5K5 . Take your foot of the brake and hey presto.
The sst box usual launches at 2K5 so the extra rpm is a great help.

Highly unlikely, that's a quote from a random blog response to a blurb published last year. On the reliable information food chain, that's plankton.

madfast, don't you hate it when people will just not listen to logic and reason? For the most part I just stay out of the stupid pissing matches now. Let them be wrong....
