Yea i have had a flick through the main one on here for weight loss but most of it is things like aircon etc which ive already well and truely done.

Ive stripped all the doors out so they r just a shell and have lexan windows etc. dash is a hollow shell. all sound deadening etc removed. no carpet etc.

Im at the point now where i need to start chopping weight out of the actual structure of the car. its just finding which parts you can cut without affecting the actual structural integrity of the chassis. bearing in mind i have an extensive rollcage installed however.

They are a prime example of the 3rd law. They put all that energy in while getting little work and a lot of hot air out.

With regard to mounting location of the rear wing - no matter if it's mounted solid to the rear frame rails or on the squishy trunk lid, the force applied at the tires will not change as long as the wing element itself is in the same location. Where the element is located will change the F/R balance, but total downforce will not change (except a bit due to the change in the airstream as you get farther back from the roofline).

One significant possibility to do something different and beneficial would be a wing mounted directly or indirectly via pushrods to the rear uprights. This would give you unsprung downforce rather than typical sprung downforce.

As for updates, the first round of price quotes to build my AMB Aero pieces was from a composites company who does Indycar bits. The prices reflected that. 🙁 So we're waiting on production quote from another place more local that does some CSR/DSR type stuff as well as aftermarket performance composites. Hopefully this will be closer to my zero-budget level. :-)

On a different topic, I emailed a tire manufacturer looking for info on using their tires at extreme high loads. They pretty much laughed and said my calculations "must" be off . . . Lol

^ thought you had connections with DHP composites? they cant make what you need?

aren't you going to run standard hoosier or bfg tires. are those tires used in WTA cars designed specifically for those cars that make 5k lbs of down force? or they just off the shelf tires.

last time I talked to DHP a few years ago he told me to stop asking him to do composites stuff because he was too busy with his day job and spending time with his wife.

As for tires - some just can't handle the loads because of the construction.

May be worth a shot. Alumalite is costing me three times what it used to. It's just about about not cost effective to do your own, any more. It used to be $80, now it's $250. Lame.

Bua?? what? I haven't checked in some time but that makes no sense, unless you're presently in Houston or something.
