BOOOOOO But I hear you...
So funny story about being at the track this week. I grabbed an instructor who was all about going fast, as you could see in the video. He was like, "if we had the track clear without all these slow cars we would have the whole front half dialed, and it would be boring. And we would be going so fast into turn 5 that both of us would be scared out of our minds." Every time we powered out of a corner he would say "Jesus Christ", it was good stuff. He also said if I had a full-time track car it would be better to have one with half the speed. He felt that my car as-is just dialed in and driven at the limit was scary fast out there.

2006 IX SE
37k miles
1k track miles (casual lapping / HPDE) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0g4GJd5PTos
Engine:
pipes
TBE
gsc S1
walbro 255
english racing tuned 340/320 @ 22psi
Interior/Exterior:
binary seat lowering brackets
MR gauge cluster / radio reposition
Suspension/Handling:
WORKS ride springs
17x8.5 RPF1 + 255/40 AD08
Brakes:
motul
WORKS ss lines
forged brake duct kit
DS2500 front/rear
Parts in hand:
DTC-60 front pads (retain DS2500 rear)
Hotchkis rear sway + endlinks
new ducting, to replace the torn up ducting - again
Learnings:
It's a relatively inexpensive car for casual lapping days.
Competitive out of the box.
Glad I didn't spend more $ on go-power, before suspension.
I wish there were as many (easy) ways to reduce weight, as there are to increase power.
If I make the move to a dedicated track car: undecided if I'll strip out the Evo and run it, or sell it: and replace it with a lightweight, disposable, track car.
Goal for this car is to stay under the sweet spot where the track-prepped-ness, becomes a money pit

^^^^ I'm up to my neck in the money pit! What would you want to do for a lightweight lower-cost track car?
