Tow Rigs, What do you have/use?
I posted earlier in this thread about the new Tundra I bought. It just rolled over 10,000 miles. Trouble free, 100% of course. I've gotten a best of 18.8 MPG empty. Towing my aluminum enclosed 24' trailer with my 3850 pound GT500 in it coming back from Pittsburgh I got 9.9 mpg. It is the best truck I've owned to date. No, it's doesn't have the stability of a dooley, no it doesn't haul 1 ton in the bed and no it's not nearly as powerful as any of the turbo diesels I've owned. It does everything else better, including the mileage.
I would have already put the supercharger on it BUT I screwed up when I bought it, I bought a black truck and I hate that. It's dirty all the time, why I bought it I have no idea as I knew better. IF it were white, tan or anything else it would be supercharged by now. I'll probably trade it in next year on another one, in a different color.

i love the Seqouia, it feels more like a truck, and does have a not so great gas milage. But i love it. feels solid , strong like a tank. The Suburban doesnt feels like that
Also very spacious etc. You wont regret it if you dont mind a bit of a pain at the pumpo and the little bit harsher ride from the back of the SUV. Bumps around as a truck do over uneven surfaces. But still a VERY comfortable and quiet hughe SUV. For long trips and towing a race car i think will be great!

I don't know what year your friends Tundra is, mine is brand new with the 5.7 in it. Typically I'm not impressed with gas trucks. My enclosed trailer weighs only 2600 pounds empty, the GT500 is 3850 and I have the trailer loaded down with tools etc. From here to Pittsburgh isn't very hilly but there are some decent long grades, it had no trouble, certainly not struggling by any means and I am very picky about a truck power level, if you can imagine that! haha

Are you fairly comfortable with the brakes on the truck going downhill? Have you considered any of the other TRD modifications that Toyota has (I'm sure you could just make your own though!)
We did tow a double car trailer (two cars on it) etc. so as we tow cars to mountain places Like Vemront - New Hampshire etc. We have 0 problem to hold speed.
In fact you are the first one who actually say that. Many times we do tow together with other racing teams, including F250 - dodge rams etc with a big TD engine. Well at least we keep up easy to say that. Suprising for them for sure....

I think the whole deal changes when you start towing big enclosed trailer, but open trailer etc is just like nothing behind the Tundra, even with two cars on it.
Are you sure he has a 5.7 I force engine?
yeah tundra are good for towing , specially open trailers

etc

one more times ... tested by guys who dont care...
Kyoo, you dont need brake upgrades, period. The brakes are excelent on the Tundra. I how ever changed the rotors, to a slotted ones, just for look. Looks much better LOL

Hey all
We just picked up a featherlite 3110 the 17-6 open bed trailer, question for the folks who are using one. The included stock ramps are roughly 6' long, and the lip crashes into them before the front wheels make contact.
Looking for any advise you might have and what ramp set up you are using. I have a set of 4' race ramps I could place underneath the stock ramps, but the stockers are wider and wouldn't sit nice and flat on the race ramps.
Thanks
Chris

put couple of 2x4s in front of the trailer ramps, to raise front wheels before your lip touches them. easy and cheap fix...
