You guys are very lucky you have access to such awesome closed in trailers for a reasonable price. Id love one eventually. people have started importing trailers second hand out of america as even when you factor in shipping costs it works out far cheaper. for most down here closed in trailers are just too expensive.
We use a Futura trailer which has winch lowering axles so the trailer deck sits pretty much flush with the ground its really good. We are towing it round with a Holden Colorado which is basically a chevrolet colorado/S10 but with a few extra bells and whistles.
The futura trailer is pretty cool for sure. I have a light weight aluminum open (about 1300lbs with air dam and tool box) but not having a tire rack means tires need to go in the car and I cant make a cage work.
I've just recently started seeing more availability of the futura trailer here and would love one of them but getting mine in a more private box would be better.
im not sure what they price the futura at for you guys. they are made locally here in auckland so we probably get quite a decent deal on them. They are super popular and ours has been pretty good. The only thing we dont like about it is the last metre or so of the deck they have kicked down on a slight angle compared to the rest of the trailer and my splitter takes a hammering on it as theyve got ribs running across and it catches in the ribs.
If a closed trailer is similar money i think youd be far better off with one. I race with a couple guys who have them and they are great. if you set it up right you can sleep in them at the track etc. friend of mine has a kitchen in the front of his and he chucks an air mattress in it and sleeps at the track.
We also struggle with space. most of the tray of the ute is filled up. we had a shelf custom built under the tyre rack to carry spares and fuel. even then we end up putting stuff in the car. and at 10" wide you can only fit 7 wheels on the rack which means one needs to go in the ute tray or in the car.
Not sure what the futura trailers cost there but we're looking at 25k usd for a decently nice enclosed here. I had a class C rv up till a month ago and the last 3 season at the track were great. But we're building a house/shop so getting rid of payments was a smart move for us.
Having a motor home is amazing for the track, now Im going to have to relearn how to not have that space for a while. Gonna be hotels for us!
I'm considering a Futura. I like the fact that it seems that you can put it in your garage and then drive your car up and down it as needed. Not having a trailer in the driveway might be worth the premium to me. Not sure if a TX rollback or other tilting trailer could accomplish that same feat. The low weight of the Futura would make it more possible to maneuver it detached from the truck using a trailer dolly. Also, not having to pull out ramps to load/unload would be super nice.
That is pretty rad. I'd imagine you just need a trailer dolly to move it around. And an above average garage size (true 2 car 24x24) for it to fit and still have room to actually put another car next to it.
yea double check the dimensions on their site as they arent short. I have the full size full width one and it fits the evo on there with at least half a metre overhang on the deck alone. youve then got about a metre of drawbar also.
They are good trailers. we have to use wood but i have an incredibly low and large splitter which catches on the deck ribs. a more stock evo wouldnt have an issue at all. your porsches would be fine. you can also load from inside your car due to the remotes. Ive pulled my car up on the winch before and then lifted the trailer all from sitting in the drivers seat

12k gets you a pretty bare bones enclosed aluminum trailer here. Granted now you need something that can handle it.
And, if you lived where I do, you'd be spending $1000+/year to store that enclosed trailer (or spending $50k to build a detached garage to store it), unless you could push it into the garage and drive a car up and down it -- hence, the potential appeal of the Futura.
Even the light weight enclosed trailers are over 2k lbs. And I wouldn't buy an enclosed shorter than 24ft (for extra storage, tool box in the front, etc. So getting that in a garage would be difficult.
