dont like strapping down the wheels unless you have all metal bushings. if you use front T hooks and cross, you wouldn't have to remove front aero either. i had splitter on my car, and rear diffuser. T hooks is so easy to get on and off for open trailer cars.

i lay the straps down on the trailer where i want them, then drive the car on the trailer and the straps are already in place. put the hooks on and hook the strap. so quick.

That probably wouldn't work for big aero. My next splitter is going to be a couple more inches longer. Either 7 or 9 inches past the bumper.

At the end of the day strapping down a car to the trailer means very little in terms of wear. I'd rather have the safest strapped solution than worry about wear on components.

My 05 Tacoma does great for the light weight it pulls (~4000lb for trailer and car). I'm planning on upgrading to a 6.7 F250 and enclosed trailer for next year though.

What motor is in your Taco? I couldn't imagine puling a decent trailer with one; feel like my buddies is painfully slow enough without a boat anchor out the back. And you got some beefy tiyas on that thing! Also, I bet your combo is closer to the 5k mark vs 4k as an FYI. Glad it's working out well for you though granted Im sure you'll love the diesel once you go that route and never go back.

The truck has a 4.0L V6. It's not terribly slow but not great either. It's able to stay at a nice 65-70mph without too much effort unless there's a big hill where I have to drop it out of OD.

The trailer is 1620lb and both cars pictured above are between 2400-2500lbs

Very excited for the diesel!

I'd imagine the part of Michigan you live in is pretty flat. Thus I'd def believe that the Tacoma would be fine for pulling your setup. My 5.3 does great down here in FL. But venture anywhere north of that, and the steep grades makes me rethink what I am doing with my life ( lol joke ).

Sometime early next year, I'd either like to get myself a F150 3.0 Ford Power-Stroke. I know a 6.7 F250 would be ideal, but is a bit of coin for me currently.

while i've never driven a 3.0 power stroke id suggest checking out the 3.5 eco with a 10 sp (if you haven't already). they are super impressive in terms of power and comfort.

IMO a half ton diesel is silly - its all the costs associated with a diesel with the pulling capabilities of a half ton.

I drove it, and fell in love with it. There were three main factors in wanting the 3.0 power stroke versus the 6.7.

One is cost. Since the 3.0 now comes in the XLT package, it makes it significantly cheaper then getting a low spec'd F250.

Two was the MPG's it gets. It could easily replace my Chevy Cruze, and make a great daily. The rated MPG's it gets in not deleted form are great. I can only imagine when properly deleting it as to what it can achieve.

Second was because I'll never see myself towing anything more then my open trailer setup. It's rated at 11,000lbs ( which I'd never go near. Max I'd ever tow on a half-ton would be 600lbs. My setup is under 4800lbs Right now my Silverado gets the job done, but not very comfortably outside of FL. I feel with a decent tune, the 3.0 power stroke would be a nice upgrade.

I am however waiting to see if there are any issues with current owners long term with the engines and what not before I even think of buying one.

Good idea, Fords track record with the powerstroke’s isn’t the greatest.

Just picked up this Ferd to replace my Tundra. Got the 3.5 EcoBoost, 10 speed, with 3.55 rear.

Dad got the same one, said the 10 speed is a step above the previous model.
