Sounds like a yuge pain in the *** when I can just stick them on a tire rack. By the time I get all my stuff together, the bed is full. I don't like thinks like tool boxes and jack stands in the cab. They turn into projectiles in accidents...
I picked up some steel to build a tire rack to go over my toolbox but have yet to get around to building it. Having a box on the trailer is awesome however. Its nice to be able to store stuff indefinitely like straps floor jack and misc tools. Makes me want an enclosed trailer for same reason, attach trailer and off to the races.
I wonder if having a tire rack up high will kill MPGs? Thats like one of the only downsides I can come up with...
It won't kill mpg any worse than an enclosed...lol
Lol, well yeah obvi. Was just a thought bc I get like IDK maybe 12 at best when towing. I don't tow enough at this point for it to really matter but was just thinking out loud.
I did a thing. Managed 19mpg towing it empty lol 18' with a dovetail, brakes on both axels, stow away ramps. Much excite. Also this is actually my second 2015 silverado. First one was not 4x4 and had i believe 3.08 gears. Worked a deal with the dealership and traded the first back in on this one which is 4x4 and has I think 3.42 gears. Tow capacity is like 10k pounds.
:Looks good. Be sure to keep Thompson or the like on that wood each year, bottom too. Goes to sh*t real quick without it. I think I used the one with the gold stain in it when I had my open.

5.3, 6l90 trans. Trailering package with brake controller etc. Its also flex fuel so whatever e85 i dont use at a track day i can throw in the truck for the ride home lol
The highest I've achieved towing my open trailer setup with my Evo ( roughly 4,800 lbs ) on it I believe was 14mpg. Usual highway towing average is between 11-12mpg with my 03 Silverado 5.3.
I eventually want to step up to a 2018-2019 3.0 Power-Stroke as I think that would fit my needs perfectly in terms of power and MPG's all around for daily use. I just can't see myself having to spend close to 50k for a Lariat trim. I feel for that price point, might as well get a lower-spec'd F250 6.7 which would be a more capable truck all-around.
Worked out tie downs today with Austin. I believe next week he's going to take his car up to Gingerman. Used my car as a test mule. Pulled it around the neighborhood and worked out well. Thankfully the weather cooperated today.
