This is what we use unless the event is 60 or so miles away. Towing capacity is 7,500 lbs. Trailer is Aluma 8218 and is 1,400lbs. Could have gone with the 16' version but they changed the design between time I order and received.

It would be nice to share some of those MPG towing figures, maybe that's a different thread?

I have a 5.3L gas Silverado 1500. It consitently is 11-12 mpg towing fully loaded. That is a total weight of about 13,000 lbs between truck, trailer, car, and gear. Steel closed deck 18' trailer. Oh, and 75-80 mph cruise speeds on the highway. I think my DE to NE and back trip to nationals is spot on 11.5 mpg average.

Dallas J - Your Jeep gets better mileage towing than my evo would driving itself!

11-12 with closed trailer in a gasser sounds pretty dang good though. One day Id like enclosed, but for now we're content popping a tent.

Yeah, my mileage is pretty great. 17-18 with open trailer and around 10k total load. But we're torn if I should get a truck and enclosed or new Jeep GC diesel and lighter aluminum trailer.

Open trailer, just closed metal deck so it is heavier. I'd be happy if I had that with an enclosed! My truck is staying for a while, but next move will be something diesel.

Nothing fancy here, I use my work truck to tow my evo.
Has a 5.3L and 3.73 rear end. I also added a large transmission cooler to keep it cool.

I have no problems at all going up hill and what not.

I'm planning on installing a 6.0L since its a direct swap and a 4lL80E HD transmission in the near future.

I have installed Helper springs since this picture so that it doesn't tilt as much

I picked up an 05 Tahoe recently and that works great for hauling the car +team/crew. plenty of space for 4 people and gear.

13mpg towing
19mpg un-towing

I get about 13 mpg towing with my 2011 Titan Crew Cab 4wd. I get about 18mpg otherwise. I got about the same when I was towing with my 2012 Armada. The Titan does a much better job towing, the rear doesnt squat like the Armada did.

Toyota Sequoia (2008) pulling a closed 20 ft, v-nose steel trailer. I get 10-12 towing and 18ish normally.

I picked up a 2004 4runner V8 limited with towing package last month and got a new EconoTrailer 15' open deck last week. Just towed the car first the first time yesterday. got 14 mpg towing with decent amount of hills on the way (without extra race wheels or tools for track weekend which would add another 200 lbs). then got 23 mpg on the way back without the trailer. i got a tool box that i will put in front of the trailer also. the trailer itself weigh 1450 lbs, pretty light for a steel trailer.

Pulling my 40ft trailer loaded with a dodge 3500 dually on it I got about 10mpg on average. That scaled in at about 13-14k load alone, and I crossed the scales right around 21k with the truck and load btw. Unloaded I get anywhere from 19-21mpg or so.........

Here's my "new" tow rig. This is a break in test, towed my uncles boat from Detroit to Chicago. 9000lbs 40' trailer. Only got 10.5-12mpg.... Still shopping for my car trailer.

Trailer is a 20' Aluma tilt deck. I still need to use a set of race ramps to get the evo up on it, but the tilt is much nicer than dealing with long ramps IMHO. Sold my truck and still haven't decided what to replace it with, so for now I'm towing it with the wife's Sport. It actually does a great job, even being lowered 2" all around. We averaged 14.5mpg round trip to Watkins Glen and back last month.
