Tow Rigs, What do you have/use?
2006 f-350 4x4
I love my 2006 F-350 4X4. Just turned 20k miles as I bought it to pull my 15,000 pound boat. The EVO hardly registers I am towing anything. I am looking into a daily driver/hauler for the evo. The EcoBoost F-150's are getting all the applause, but $50k for a platinum is ridiculous. I must be in a mid life crisis as I keep rubber necking at all the 6" lifted trucks. Love how Toyota Tundra's look, but they are dated inside. Ram 2014's have best touch screens now. F-150's have best overall options. Appreciate the Armada insight. I thought same thing about Tahoe's...so much money by the time I add up all options I want. The new 2014 Jeeps with Hemi can tow 7500lbs and cost $55k. The new SRT8 jeep is my pick, but I can't justify $70k daily driver.

Last month i went to Watkins Glen, pulling steel 18x8 wooden deck trailer, evo @ 3150, loaded with gear, as well as fully loaded touareg.
Averaged 14.5 mpg, 65-70mph. Pulled lika a champ through the hills.
Air suspension def is nice to have

Looking forward to seeing how the 1/2 ton diesels work out. Ram comes out with thiers this fall. Hoping others follow along. Theoretically I could get a 1/2 ton that pulls better than my current gas motor and gets twice the mileage. Win!
Keep in mind, pulling is one thing. I had an ecoboost and it pulled my evo x with an 18 ft open trailer without issue. Thats with a max tow package. Although the amount of weight on the tongue and over the rear axle was a bit too much for the 1/2 ton. Can it pull it? All day long plus some.. but the 1/2 tons dont have the axles to support that kind of weight . I moved to a 2010 F-350 turbo diesel, and got a 24ft enclosed trailer.
The rear end barley squats compared to the f-150. Its like a tank, and a better fit for towing. 250 axles or alike are equally as good. Although running around with a 1/2 ton for a year or so, while it was pulling it with ease, the load on the rear end is getting to the max. I would rather overcompensate than just have enough.

I have a 2003 Cadillac Escalade EXT for towing. I had a 2007 Escalade regular before and it was great. I sold it for the 2003 Escalade, because I couldn't justify having the new one just for towing and sitting around. The 2003 EXT pulls my enclosed trailer so much better and gets much better gas mileage.
I tow a 20ft enclosed trailer. With the car, tools, etc, I'm pulling about 8,000lbs give or take. Pulls it like there's nothing behind it, definitely a good tow truck

I towed the EVO with my 18ft open wood deck trailer behind my 2012 Jeep GC with air ride suspension over the Tail of the Dragon. It performed flawlessly and had plenty of power to get up the hills at a good rate of speed. It also very good with braking and handling the tight switch backs. If that wasn't a test of towing ability i am not sure what is.
I was also giving word that i passed the towing test on the dragon by http://killboy.com/ . I have always wanted to drive the tail of the dragon. Towing a racecar was not exactly the way i would have liked to do it but, it was fun in a sorta sick way. Serious white knuckle driving, that is for sure!

Had to balance of bunch of things, using this as a DD so we got a 2008 Nissan Armada. Pulling the Evo in an enclosed trailer this next weekend ~500 miles each way to Oregon Raceway Park.
