Tow Rigs, What do you have/use?
If anyone in the Seattle area is interested I have a co worker who is looking to just get out of his truck, doesn't want the payment anymore.
I believe this is what he has
2006 Dodge 3500 Crew cab dually 2wd
Automatic 6 spd and the last year of the 5.9 24valve motor.
Truck is white about 150k on it, Slt package , he says it has everything leather etc.
Might have a removable 5th wheel hitch setup.
He owes ~19k on it, if your are interested shoot me a pm and I will get you his info.
Thanks
Chris M

Does anyone know of an open trailer that will accept a lowered Evo without having to use wood to meet clearance issues? I used a generic U-Haul trailer for my move from NC to CA and loading it and off loading it was a chore. Looking for something that won't really require the recruitment of several others just to get a car on a trailer. Any help would be pretty sweat!
Something to this effect I guess.

I really never had an issue actually getting it up on the trailer but because of the way the ones i rented were set up with the metal lip towards the front of the trailer where it stops the front wheels i always ended up placing a small 2x4 under the front tires so that my front lip would clear the metal plate and allow me to easily strap the front wheel down.
Depending on how low your Evo is you may have similar issues when driving on as well as the trailers i rented had an open center section and where the wheels are had a "U" type shape and the front lip again may get close to the inner most lip.
Geez i hope that makes some sense i will try and find a pic from waaay back if i can lol

Here ya go bud with red arrows showing the parts needed to clear.......sorry you can't see the inner portion/lip of the trailer though as the Evo casts a shadow but hope you get the gist

Sorry though as i know i didn't really answer your ? about an open trailer but i do have a pic of the car on an open trailer that tilted and i did have to use some wood but not too much of an issue by any means just a wierd type of trailer that made a HELLUVA lot of noise going down the road LOL!

I used the same trailer. My car rides on HKS Hypermax-II coilovers. Not sure how much it's dropped though, came with the car.

BTW that was an el cheapo cover from Wal-Mart that didn't last through TN.
The car I used to tow it from NC to CA was a Excursion which got about 7-8mpg, I borrowed it from my uncle. It did a little better driving through nothing-to-see Oklahoma. I don't have to own DD/tow truck yet but I am looking for one. I'm not worried about that though. Finding a truck will be easy enough. I'm more focused on finding a low enough trailer, one with longer ramps, or one where the bed tilts maybe. I do like how you drove the back wheels on ramps though. We didn't have ramps for my **** show of a cross country move though. They sure would have helped.

Honestly i'd stay away from any tilting type trailer unless they are high quality and have a motorized tilt option because if not it feels like you're on a carnival ride driving up it by yourself until you hit the tilting point and then...........WHAM.......you are level again and people are looking at you crazy
and that's even after putting some rubber bump stops lol! Also worst case scenario if you don't have ramps you can also jack up the trailer from the ball/hitch area to create a better angle but i prefer the safer method of using the ramps
I was lucky when looking for a trailer as an older (70+ yr old) gentleman was getting out of SCCA Porsche racing and had a lowered trailer for sale which works out perfect for most lowered cars now just have to use a drop down ball mount and it pulls smooth and straight

I will post a pic of the trailer when i get to my other computer.
I threw on some LED lights off my buddy's old boat trailer and now i'd love to have a winch to ease loading and if ever anything catastrophic happens you don't need a bunch of "pushers"
First tow of the year this weekend. Managed 18mpg towing the 2000lbs trailer, 3100lb Evo, and ~1000lbs in gear/people/dog/etc.
All freeway of course, cruising half way at 65-67 and other have at 55. 3 passes to climb over as well. Was up to 20mpg until hitting that passes.
I hand calculate everything, but my dash mpg display is within a couple 1/10s so far every tank.
