I run the HPS. They are a bit numb, but it's gotten me in the habit of braking earlier so I left em alone. The HP+ have more bite but are godawful annoying in the cold. I am thinking about trying the Stoptech Street Performance pads but haven't gotten around to it.

If your complaint is no initial bite though I would probably pass on the HPS

The RedStuff pads couldn't slow the car down enough? As in, they couldn't trigger the ABS on street tires? That sounds pretty bad.

I just installed the StopTech Street Performance pads. My initial impressions are very good, but we haven't had any AutoX events yet. They do squeal a bit at low speeds under light braking, which is disappointing. Others have said they get no squeal, so I may try to add the fiber shims from the stock pads and see if that fixes it.

Otherwise, I'm very happy with them so far.

Thanks, will have to look these up as well.

The thing I liked about the RedStuff pads were that they don't make much, if any noise (tiny squeal in parking lots and such) and they don't create lots of brake dust. Yesterday's event was at a local site (deteriorating concrete) and very low levels of grip, so I'm not giving up entirely on these pads yet, but we'll see at a higher-grip site

I'm in SM, but I believe the rule is the same in both classes for making a non-RS car similar to an RS. Does anyone know if the firewall padding/insulation on the ENGINE side of the firewall does not come on the RS, and cna therefore be removed on any Evo?

thanks...

I know Doug M. has some. Course was actually pretty slow and tight for San Diego. Shane and Josh would have have done well in the STi. Sunday's course is opened up. The Evos will do better with the yee-haa factor. Very high caliber class, with 4 Evos coming from over 1,200 miles away.

the courses weren't all that great but they did the best they could with the very badly broken up surface. I'll post video tomorrow when I'm not cross-eyed tired

congrats to all, it was great to be there!

Nice job Doug! Nice little comeback from Day 1.

Geoff, what happened? How could you let Doug beat you?

Rick, IIRC, didn't Tom co-drive with you and win a few years ago? I could look it up, but I'm lazy. Haven't seen the courses but I doubt even an STI course would have been enough to hang with that Ken jerk.

And somebody *cough* Rick *cough* tell that Motonishi guy to leave us alone. Man he's fast.

There were two levels actually: Motonishi and everyone else.

I was working during STU, and man were you guys fast. Most of the STU times were even with SM times (sad for us).

Doug 7 Rick (Rick's car anyway), were you guys on the zII's? or still z1? Thoughts/feedback?

I had an opportunity to run the Rivals (18" size) on a 2011 STi Saturday, definitely a different monster, ended up 4th of 110ish in pax behind Pallotta and Strano co-driving the FRS. but wow, no feedback to the driver in comparison to the Z1 anyway...

Results show essentially everyone in STU on the Dunlops...and I can only imagine that they were all on ZII's (at the top anyways).

no disrespect to Ken 'cause he could beat us regardless of whos car he was driving but some credit should go to Rick, that car is setup amazingly well, and amazingly well for socal.. significantly different than the other EVOs in the group.

...and, I thougt I loved the Z2's but now I'm not so sure. we need some more warm weather testing/experience.. maybe I'll just stay down here ...can't say I'm missing the rain right now!
