I find it comical that you're shaking in anticipation of your coils showing up as I keep pushing mine to the side of my work bench saying I'll clean them up and pack em away for the winter tomorrow...

The beauty of living somewhere it doesn't snow.

Are those Ciro top plates?

Yeah CDR plates. Had them back on my billy setup and put them on my coils when I got em. Happy to say sphericals are still tight too.

Lol I enjoy the snow but its this stuff that makes me cringe. This was in my work parking lot a couple days ago. I know they didnt mean to dump that much there but I snapped a photo and said sorry to Eva, haha. Even worse is that I just dug up a pic of my coils a couple years ago and they used to be so pretty

Ohlins Clunking

Is anyone familiar with a clunking noise Ohlins DFV Coilovers make?

Thanks,
Jon

Can you expand on said clunking noise? A clunk could come from the spherical on the top having excessive play, the strut being blown, other various bad bushings ball joints etc. With that being said I've have my Ohlins for a few years now and I don't have any strange clunks.

I'll say this about the Ohlins, with only 50miles experience lol. They seems to handle the stiff springs I'm running surprisingly well on the street. Doesn't feel as stiff as I'd have guessed. Soaks up bumps and stuff very well.

They have some of the best low-speed damping in the business. That is why they have been the go-to for anyone tracking their street car. If I were shopping coilovers again, I'd most likely get a set.

Most bumps encountered on the street generate high shaft speeds, not low. The DFV tech is what makes them work so well for that. Helps the piston/valving to flow more when high force/shaft speed is encountered so the wheel can get out of the way faster.

Still anxious about the springs rates I've chosen. Hopefully they work out...lol.

You do 10/12 right? I ran that on stock valving for a season and they felt good. Well, it was the stock springs in the front aka 10k and I picked up a set of Hyperco 650# which is like ~11.7. Then I send them in for a revalve and picked up a set of 800's to put on the rear and thats what I've been rocking the past 2 seasons and are now taking up space on my work bench, lol

My focus is auto-x oriented so I setup my car to be loose and I think given the amount of tire I have right now Im quite content with how the car is behaving. Of course its a never ending battle of trying new things to maximize the setup but for the limited racing I did this season the car felt really good and the only change I made over the winter prior was fixing my ACD and putting it in the trunk.

Oh btw my rates were paired with the Perrin 25mm RSB on soft and stock front bar drilled in conjunction with CDR adjustable bracket 2nd stiffest setting on my end links.

Moral of the story for track and street duty with some auto-x mixed in there I think you'll be very pleased with them. And if you dont like em a pair of springs is cheap and you have some margin of error now with the revalve anyway.

BTW smokin deal on those; can't believe how much the Ohlins have come down in price the past couple years. It's awesome but sucky at the same time knowing I've got an easy extra grand into mine ugh and yours will be all purdy and fresh!

I got a 700lb rear spring. I told PSI I wanted 12k rear, and that's what they put on the invoice. So it's more like 12.5k. Still thinking of dropping that rear rate to a 650lb.

Stock bars? If not just throw back on the stock rear and I wouldnt sweat it. Regardless were not talking about a significant difference in the grand scheme of things. I doubt Im good enough to notice a difference.

For track work it might be a little too tail happy but i know back in the day a common setup was 12k/ 16k. Of course rotation in auto-x is typically preferred vs track duties where people tend to prefer a slight push.

Let it be. Oversteer is more fun anyway

Currently have stock bars. Plan is for WL rear bar and Ciro front brackets/links soon. I guess if it's too tail happy, I'll bump the front rate up to 600lb probably.
