Difference between 650 and 700 is not that big and I don't believe you would be able to see it that easy. I would not change anything until you test your current setup first.

Much better plan. Don't you be getting soft on us. If I can DD my car on 650/800 up here in pothole city then Mr Vegas should have no problem. Although, its funny having not ridden on the billies in a couple years I didn't realize how stiff my setup is until I wen back. Frost heaves (a term you're probably not familiar with, lol!) are like the worst things ever and Im so used to bracing for impact and now I just scream and then and like WTF that wasnt so bad haha

The only sad part is they'll never look this shiny again. So purdy when new.

nice thing about ohlins is they are all aluminum and stainless, except for some of the hardware bolts, which have been known to rust and seize if you drive in the winter, so use anti seize on them.

I think painter's tape may still be a good idea to wrap the threads. they can really get gunked up, even without driving in the winter or hardly the rain (I almost never do)

does the tape leave residue if it sits there for a long time and if under high heat from track.

Yeah, painters tape isn't something I would leave on. After about 2 days the glue develops a more permanent bond and it is very difficult to get off.
