I know Im super far behind schedule on getting the Motec installed and working on the ACD maps but John seemed totally on board with working on it to create more representative mapping. Yeah, the maps are very basic in Motec right now but no reason they cant be more.

Congrats on getting your KV8. If you need a Evo 8 non-ACD base file I can send you a copy of the base file Emtron sent me.

Very keen to see how you find the emtron.

I like Motec logging and have done lots of coaching etc in sim racing and real world via motec but i helped a friend out with the tuning side the other day and found it quite horrible. granted it was an old ecu so not sure if that makes a difference but regardless will love to see how you find the emtron going forward

What did you not like about the software?

My impression is that the Motec M800 (what I assume you saw) is great once you know how to use it, because it's so flexible, but it's also intimidating. I think the newer Motec ECUs are easier to use, but less flexible. I didn't really consider Motec because the software pricing model was a big turnoff to me. I think Emtron is a bargain for what it is.

It will be a while before I get this up and running. My car is wired for stock ECU/flex fuel working with Zeitronix and Innovate add-ons, so I need to rewire all that, in addition to getting a harness together and mounting solution. Plus, I need to do it in such a way that I can flip back and forth with the stock ECU. I'm looking forward to the project though.

As far as the Emtron Emtune software, I'm learning it through a 60+ video online course, plus I have a copy and some tuning files to play around with. From everything I've seen, I really like it.

This is the course I'm using:

You could probably do a patch loom like the plug n plays have. where the plugs from the stock loom/ecu plug into the patch loom and then go to the Emtron. so you could unplug the loom and plug the original plugs back into the OEM ecu? For example here is one haltech do for different brands.

yes, that is my plan. I’m just not sure whether I’m going to tackle making it or whether I’ll pay someone else to do it. It seems like it should be a fairly simple project, and it’s one that I’m sure I will do again the next time I want to install a standalone on a car.

You could buy one already made and cut the plug off and re pin the emtron side plugs

There are Emtron ones out there already done for around $800, if I wanted to go that way. If I make it, I’d just make it all. In addition to the Evo ECU wires, there would also be the rest of the I/O, comms connector, CAN connector, wideband connector, etc.

@Balrok You ever get your Motec install done? Im starting the wiring on mine and getting prepped so i just need to swap ECUs and have ER work their magic. But I have to wait for Lucas to be free.

I love my Emtron, it runs so good.
It's extremely flexible. If you can dream it up - Emtron will pretty much do it.
The more sensors the better!

Ya tuner being free is my issue too. I have everything but haven't started yet.

When you say wiring, do you mean the jumper harness? I’m working on that for my Emtron. Who knew there was so much to learn just to do such a seemingly simple project.
