Are you getting CAMS?
I got mine done with head studs and cam gears.
Somewhere between $300-$400 if I remember.
Is the process the same on the IX? Might be more.
If you're getting cams get JAM no tick lifters at the same time.
I got's me some lifter tap and I know Mike did it right, bled the lifters and was all careful about it.

Dave, have you ever tried the revving method to rid the tick? It's in the service manual if you need it. Basically, over a 15 second period you rev the car at a slow and steady pace from idle to 3K. Then the next 15 seconds you let it idle. Repeat those steps for a bunch of cylces and it really can help the problem.
How did he do the head studs? The 1x1 way or the real deal, pull the head, etc. If he did all that for you for $300.00, then that was a killer deal. At the dealership? That's rare. Unless Mike sets the prices. Although the lifter tick might have me second guessing.

He did the head studs the 1x1 method. I've read the horror stories too. He did it right and surprise surprise, it worked just fine and saved me a lot of cash.
I don't remember the exact price but I had other stuff done so maybe the cams were more of the total? 85/hrx4.5 =~400 for cams sounded right. There are two guys that I trust to touch my EVO. Mike is one and Travis is the other.
Interesting method to get rid of the tap. I will try it. Thanks

I'm still waiting on a good test for the BC cams, the price is right and you can do cams, springs, retainers for the same as just cams from the other brands. The 280's were what I was looking into, screw that 272 stuff...I want the big boys

The rate im racking up the miles I will be doing cams next year at 60k miles along with a timing belt
(turned 30k today)

....what other stuff would i need for the cams
