If you decide to drive up on Saturday, let me know. Depending on what time it is, I should be up for it.

Do you know if they are allowing passengers to ride?

As for their ratchets, I've never broken a ratchet but I used to help rebuild them. 90% of the failures I saw from ratchets were from lack of lube or too much rust. I never once saw a gear broken. The main problem goes back to binding and rusting of the ball and spring. Of course there are about 10 different designs. The latest is by far the best. Torque wrenches can be off sometime, but the differences are usually not greater than 10 ft-lbs. And when you're torquing down something like a flywheel bolt, 100 ft-lbs is the general number, give or take another 10 f-lbs. Plenty of room for error. It would have to be waaay off to cause major problems.

i've seen alot of people hate on craftsman tools, but i myself swear by them.

are there better tools out there? yes. but for the cost, you can't beat craftsman, and i have never had a problem with breaking them. i am rather abusive to my socket set too.

the only one i did have a problem with was my hydraulic jack. the seals blew in it, but that happens with about every home hydraulic jack i've ever seen sooner or later. i could have easily replaced them, but opted for an aluminum racing jack instead.

hell, my dad has all craftsman hand tools, some of which are older than i am, and they still function just fine.

as far as i know right now, passengers are allowed providing two things.

1. they must be registered as a driver for the event so they will be covered under insurance.

2. they must have the same safety equipment as the driver. meaning seats, belts, or other restraints.

as a side note, if you want to pay by check instead of cash at the event, you can.

That's funny how you, eric, and myself have all blown up the jacks. I bought the aluminum racing jack to start with and it still broke. I just took it back and swapped it out for a new one.

i am willing to admit that the jack was probably my fault due to neglecting any sort of maintenance on it for about two years. like i said, it could have easily been fixed with new seals and a fluid change, but i wanted something more stout, and a jack that took or less 5 pumps to go to full extension.

at any rate, it only cost me 100 bucks when i bought it, and i got FAR more than 100 dollars worth of use out of it.

Ha, maybe Craftsmen/Sears needs to look at their QC a little bit better, because the same thing happened to my Craftsmen jack - its sitting in my basement useless (I used it about 5 times).

Justin, so does that mean that my girlfriend would have to drive the car (she can't ) and/or pay the $90 driver fee just to be able to ride shotgun!? Thats really weak if thats the case...she actually took the day off work to do this .

Steelcityevo8 (dan) has admitted to me this happening too. Want to hear the worst part. I did buy the racing aluminum jack last year (red/silver) with one long wheel in the front that has an amazingly low stance. because my black one broke. Well, used it on my audi and my audi alone when i originally bought it, and it let out after the first year took it back got a normal one and now i have 2 broken jacks. one goes up but you have to stand it to go down, and the other wont go up!!! how frustrating! I use a lot of the tools. I am sometimes rough one them. Using breaking bars to get leverage on bolts that not even my impact gun takes off (like sub frame bolts and control arm bolts for some reason never move.) I will have to get a picture of my bent ratchets but seriously, i am not a hater by any means. I have only been buying tools for a few years now since i really started working on cars, and i have no true preference. I just got irritated when they denied my last ratchet return.

No passengers unless they are drivers. Just so you remember you can wreck out here. Its in no ones best interest to let people joy ride. Pretty much unless you need help with driving you need to run alone. Sorry!

Looking good denny. When its done lets race for fun. Hopefully erics will be done this year but we are probably looking for an appearance towards 2010 for that car (unless it disappears before I get a chance to race it).

Mines been ready to race since the snow was flying. Hell denny you've only been building your car for a few months now and its almost ready to run!
