That sounds like an awesome weekend. I'm not sure how hot I am on pocono though.

Pocono is like a bigger version of Lightning only with more run-off and less elevation. Its a good place to test the limits because there is virtually nothing to hit.

Here is the event itinerary:

JOIN US SEPTEMBER 16-18 FOR RIESENTOTER PORSCHE-FEST AT POCONO RACEWAY One weekend, six exhilarating driving and social events for Porsche enthusiasts!

1. Drivers Education (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

On Friday the 16th, Advanced (solo) drivers are invited to drive the IMSA (long) course. We’ll be running just two groups -- A and B -- so everyone will get plenty of track time.

On Saturday, Instructed drivers will join us in driving the double infield (north & south) course, and then it’s back to the IMSA course on Sunday.

2. Autocross (Saturday)

On Saturday the 17th, our friends from Pocono Region are organizing an AX over on the East course. Those driving the DE can also participate in the AX for a small fee that will be donated to Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, Danville PA.

3. Rally (Saturday)

Of course, September is a great time to enjoy our area’s beautiful scenery. So we’ll also have a Rally starting from the Philadelphia area, terminating at the track on Saturday mid-day!

4. Shine & Show (Saturday)

Rally participants and others – show off your baby in our shine and show.

5. Taste of the Track (Saturday, Sunday)

Friends, family, and those who aren’t quite sure they’re ready for DE are invited to Taste of the Track. You’ll see a tech inspection performed, do parade laps on the track in your own car – and finish it off with a few thrilling hot laps with one of our experienced instructors. Please arrive by 10AM on Saturday or Sunday to participate.

6. Pig Roast (Saturday evening)

At the end of the day when the track is cold, all driver participants are invited to a pig roast! Extra tickets will be available for guest and family at $25.00 per person.

FOR MORE INFORMATION

Myles Diamond or Paul Walsack at track@rtr-pca.org or register on MotorsportReg.com for all events.
Ryan should be in for #5, taste of the track. j/k

Pig roast is always a good time.

The imsa long at pocono is double infield, they use north and south course. So speed won't be as high as single infield but should be fun. Ill be there next week for nasa tt with double infield.

Also, I fell certain part of pocono is not as safe as lighting.

Thunderbolt is more technical then Lightning but you're a good driver, so you'll pick it up quick. Its mostly slower than lighting except for the main straight.

Abstaining from track days all summer has finally paid off. I passed my checkride this afternoon, and I'm now a licensed pilot *****es.

Tim, out of the two I love thunderbolt. Maybe it's just the experiences I've had but thunderbolt is a ton of fun and would be a good track day. Do both days. It seems like a lot if you've never done it before but it gives you plenty of time and chances to digest what you learned.

All you guys doing that event has me seriously tempted! I think I'm going to run it too. Too bad I won't have my master instructor with me.

Edit: I am perfectly qualified to give the above advice with being a noob.

My favorite parts of thunderbolt is the chicane, turns 4 and 5 and the octopus.
