Philadelphia's Classiest Drunkards
is it an "!" with a triangle around it? it could be brake fluid is too low or the acd/ayc pump is bad. check both fluids.
i currently have this gay service reminder that i can't reset. there is a thread about how to do it but i don't care to bother with it. it just dings and flashes when i start the car. it doesn't bother me at all. the TPMS crap doesn't bother me either though it can be slightly annoying.

the lights i'm talking about only blink for a few seconds on start up and you can reset the screen. there are threads with people complaining about it. i find it such a minor inconvenience.
at every track day i get a p0137 that turns on my check engine light. it used to bother me but now i'm fine with ignoring it. i do check the code to make sure it's that code and not some more important.

actually funny you say that because i have a bad rear wheel speed sensor in the corolla that turns on the brake and abs lights. that's annoying and so is locking up the rear brakes. i replaced all the major components about 6 months ago but i think now i'm going to replace the sensor, wheel cylinders etc.
tell me about it. i've had a couple of sphincter clenching experiences. it did demonstrate that i do have some natural driving ability since i was able to do a million steering corrections and regain control.
it's on my to do list. right now abs is enabled but it's hit or miss anymore. sometimes i'll start the car on a rainy morning and it will be lit up. i'll drive for 20 minutes and shut the car off and restart it at a light and the lights will go off. i just need to replace the sensor.
i think i have a ligitimate brake issue with the rear drums though because i went through a whole set of shoes in 6 months. i plan to replace the wheel cylinders too.
anybody know about abs and wheel speed sensors? could a bad sensor cause the brakes to not fully release and result in my shoes dragging and wearing down to nothing or is it a mechanical problem with the piston or something? it bleeds ok so it isn't like the line is clogged from what i can tell.

in other news: i was talking with my next door neighbor last night and came up with an idea for a daily driver showdown/head up racing at maple grove.
who would be interested in that? it would be a friday night. it seems all our daily drivers vary greatly so it would be fun to get spanked by an X5 or throw down with marc's e36m.
ok do i sound like ryan today?

as far as i know, if there's a problem in the abs system where the abs light comes on, the asb system as a whole will be disabled. that means you either have abs or you don't, not just one axle would have abs and others don't. its a safety feature.
what you're describing sounds more like a mechanical issue. just pull the abs fuse and disable abs completely, then the brakes will be more predictable and you don't have to worry if the abs works or not. and also see if the rear lockup still occur with the abs disabled. don't endanger yourself or someone else by being a retard and driving a car with effed up brakes. get i done fool. this **** aint a game

So Dan, let me get this right... You want to go to the Grove and drag race on a friday night, but you don't want to take your Evo, you want to drive your Corolla, and you want us (or whoever) to drive there "other" cars as well?
For reelz?
For reelz?
Yeah. Sort of like 24 hours of lemons but at a drag strip. I don't have much interest in driving my Evo down a drag strip. Maybe I'm just a hater.
Thai, I never said I thought the abs was disabled in one corner or one axle. I said it is disabled when the light comes on. I recently pulled the code and found that it was a right rear wheel speed sensor. My question was whether the sensor giving a bad signal could cause the brakes to drag or did I have a mechanical problem with them. My guess is that it's both. I'll just replace the sensor and wheel cylinders. The cylinders are pretty inexpensive not to do.
