yeah i learned my lesson about doing clutches on vehicles that have powered front wheels a couple of summers ago helping a friend change the clutch on his mazda mx6.

not being the most diligent person he almost shifted all the cogs in his transmission when he removed his axles, among other nightmares.

there are some jobs that i just don't feel like putting the effort in to and would rather pay a pro to take care of.

if i had a lift and a second car drive to drive it might a different story. but i am a lazy, lazy man travis.

i saw a silver evo MR with gold wheels go ripping past me (i was riding shotgun in a minivan on my way back from baierl).
That's me. I wouldn't say I was flying, that is my normal driving speed.

well no, and it wouldn't be flying compared to my normal driving speed either.

but riding shotty with my mom at the helm of a minivan it looked like you went by at a pretty brisk pace.

just got word that the clutch is done, 5pm can't come soon enough. i got some break-in driving to do.

thanks paul.

the new clutch is quite grippy. she needs some good break in to soften up a bit.

pedal pressure is a little heavier than stock, but not bad at all.

i hate the drive home after a new clutch, everyone on the street thinks you have no idea how to drive a stick.

Speaking of clutches.... mine slipped today for the first time.

I don't get it, I put 58K on the Sti and beat the hell out of it and the clutch was fine. This clutch slips at 23K wtf!

Even though I have a lift and a secondary car I will have to find someone to put this in. Ugh I just don't have the time for this BS.

Any suggestions on clutches and/or who to install it?

mike at baierl. he does good work, and knows the best way to put jelly beans in your tranny.

which car is the clutch slipping on? my first evo went in 15k because i had no idea how to launch an awd car. this evo hung on to the stocker for 48k. not too shabby.

Freakin hot at PRP tonight, but not many cars, so I got in 4 runs by 8:30 pm. Figured I wasn't going to really run any faster so I left early....decent times, not real great, but I guess decent for the little bit of mods I have...

12.75 - 106 mph
12.78 - 108 mph
12.80 - 107 mph
12.80 - 108 mph

So now...gotta start saving for FP Black...

I had this same combo in my Red EVO before when I had broken the six speed tranny twice. The Shep tranny and the Exedy Twin are fantastic....best combo I think. Great everyday driver...even sitting in downtown traffic, but performs at the drags perfectly.

Now...I have never had 600whp or anything like that against them...but for my mods and a little more....seems to work great.

I have the same tranny/clutch combo...couldn't agree more. I always thought I was a crap driver until I got the 5 speed. Now I know I'm a crap driver, but with a far superior drivetrain.

Everyone knows the best way to break a clutch in is to dump that M F'er a good ten times... Got my car all back together last night..then terror struck. The lower intercooler piping enjoyed being a pain in the *** for a while but no big deal..Then i did the unthinkable...I went to put the oil feed banjo bolt back into the head and...DOH! Dammit if i didnt bust that bastard in half....so i ran into the woods behind my house like a raving lunatic and punched a tree (im pretty sure it fell over) thinking to myself how no one is going to have that damn thing and just like i thought....no one does. I called the dealer and they told me its discontinued (PFFFFF). I shouldnt even have called them. I knew id get the usual dealer BS. I love when i call the dealer and tell them the part i need and they all act like it doesnt exist or like im asking for an airplane landing gear or something...I want to be like "have you guys ever seen a ****ing evo do you know what the car looks like?" So slowboy in Indiana has them ....hope my girlfrind has a nice drive out there to get it for me hahahaha
