Yeah a 4.09 FD. Comes with the same 1100 price tag. So if you wanted the final drive, the transmission and all of your internals reworked you are looking at right around 4000+. I would just really like to see some results and known cars putting down good power with them before I fork over that kind of cash.

Well if you want to save money, yeah, getting rid of the Evo would be a smart financial decision. If you want to have fun and realize that fun costs money, it's the price of admission.

Doing it all over again, I would have gone with a GSR instead of the MR.

THIS!

I paid probably 3,000 more for shocks that I replaced, a 6 speed that died on me, and an aluminum roof that dented. Wise investment on my part.

actually the gsr SE would have been the best choice - all the perks of the MR with a 5 speed.........wish I would have gotten one of those but I got mine 2 weeks prior to those coming out, I am still bitter over it.

Yeah, Mike told me about those when I was shopping, but they were incredibly scarce, especially around here.

I am in an epic battle with this knock, Travis. I don't know wether to tune it out or just change the multiplier tables. I thought I had it beat but on hills and under partial throttle 0-2psi boost it is knocking like a ****.

reliability at higher power levels not withstanding i love the 6 speed for driving. both on and off the track. much better DD than the 5 speed, and i like the RPM ranges that i am in on places like the north track.

That is true.

Agreed. I'll at least get the 5spd reliability and have one less thing to worry about.

well from what u said before as well as your thread it seems like your trying to tune it out and its not helping which tells me it could be phantom....the knock your getting is low rpm / low load which is not that dangerous. It is more of an annoyance than anything when it pulls a lot of timing and stutters on you. I get part throttle knock like this from time to time especially just crossing the boost threshold and from 2500-3000 rpms (90-120 load)...I have tried taking timing out but it does nothing its just picking up some kind of resonance of the motor in that area.

How much timing have you removed? has the knock levels changed at all or are the intermittent - sometimes worse than others?

The knock sensor is probably picking up some kind of harmonics from your built motor or cams.....that is definitely not uncommon.

+1. I wish my X had a 6M. I loved that 6th gear for highway driving. This 3200rpm at 70mph is for the birds Just to add to the stories, Mike rebuilt the trans in my IX MR with under 5000 miles on it. Both 2nd and 3rd syncros were poured out of the trans when he pulled it.

I am getting it to disappear though, I had to add a little fuel and then decrease timing by almost 5* in some cells . I am smoothing it out now, but the advice I am getting there is to have no more than a 2-3* variance in the timing jumps from cell to cell and I am having a tough time doing that without redoing the entire map. The revision that is on the car now is good, there is only one spot where there are 4 counts, the rest are just one or two at the worst. I have tried to tune that 4 count peak down, but I have really changed things in that 90-120 load section from 2000-3000 rpm.

This is where we started out:

This is whats in the car with just a 4 knock count:

This is where I am now:

but I can't smooth it all out to 2-3* between cells (especially in the highlighted area) without smoothing out the entire thing and I am not sure that is a good idea.

I don't know. It is really pissing me off I just don't know how to go about this. But I do know that the knock counts are corresponding to some changes I have made so I am pretty sure it is real and not phantom.

Just for good measure:

Check your PM, Saber. Not sure if that is the right one or not.

Don't know how I lived without that sixth cog for so long.

Forgot to mention that when I talked with Trevor this morning, he wasn't even sure they were going to go through with the 6 speed upgrade. I guess gear pricing has turned a lot of people off (including me).

Soooooo where's the best place to get a loan? haha j/k
