Local Pittsburgh meet part deux
Yesterday I had Mike at Baierl install my Swift springs and now my suspension is noisy as ****. My car sounds like a beater haha. I was told this creeking/clunking was merely the springs settling and that it is normal.
1. Is this normal?
2. Generally how long til it quiets down?

I guess time will tell. I hope it's right; the stealership got me for $500 including the alignment. FTL
I'm headed to BR next month so if it is still making noise, I'll have them tear it apart and check it out

Hello fellas, how goes the day? Kiloalpha, my stock setup was making some noise before I ditched it for the Robispec stuff. I am not sure about why things would make noise, but trust this, what Mike says, usually is spot on. He doesn't bull**** anybody, just tells you whats up, what you need, and gets the job done quick.
i don't recall too much noise when i put my works springs on the car, but that was a while ago.
the clunking could be due to spring binding. sometimes the grease in the top hats on the struts works its way out through various means and causes the spring not to rotate on the perch like it should.
i had a lot of clunking on my first evo's suspension that took a long time to track down. with the help of a friend who was working at MMNA at the time my problem got run past one of the evo suspension engineers and he suggested to check the top hat. sure enough it was dry. the dealer replaced it and the noise went away.
you can also pump lithium grease in to the top hat by removing the small plug on the top of the strut from in the engine bay and using a grease gun to pack it full.
as far as the creaking, my car now is on a stock evo viii suspension and creaks like crazy. i'm pretty sure it's a bushing issue. depending on how low the drop on those swifts is and how many miles you have on your bushings it could be causing extra stress and making them groan.
how many miles on the suspension and is the noise from the front, back, or both?
it could very well be the case that after a bit of driving the springs will break in and protest much less, but i will tell you from experience that springs are a waste of time and money and you would have been better off going for a cheap set of coilovers unless you were just looking for a cosmetic drop. i went through quite a few struts when i had my springs in. changing that suspension geometry can have unhappy consequences if you alter the wrong stuff.

Well it's Friday and payday. So all is well. Processing some video of David Fazzino @ Mid-Ohio so should have that ready to post up.
My wheels and tires should arrive next Thursday. I have Friday off, so I'll be swapping those along with cleaning the new house.

Thanks for the input. In my case, it's not just a little noise. It's a lot of noise; not isolated to turning, varying terrain, etc.
I was embarassed by the noises my brand new car was making as I navigated the gas station looking for an open pump
Car currently has 500 miles, 70 or so on the suspension. Noise is isolated to the rear.

Note crash at the 1min mark.
