Agreed grip was hit or miss depending on where you were. I drifted just about the entire length of the back section there. That was when I was pretty much stock too. Seemed to be worse back there from what I remember.

yea i never thought of that haha, i just thought it was because my $400 265 tires. I Cant wait to try north park but it will probably have to wait till next season.. my transmission seems like its about to hit the grave. first and reverse gear i have to muscle in pretty much all the time.. Ill be sending the trans out to either shep or jacks and have them redo the whole thing and then throw some new discs in my exedy twin disc and that should take care of my drivetrain for a while! Then just save up for some tires and coilovers and ill be set for next season.

Anyone going to Beaver Run tomorrow (Friday)? Auto X at 4pm, Car cruise at 3:30pm, and flashlight drags start at 4:30pm. I believe gates open at 3:30 PM.

I'll be there....

So at least they improved the 5 speed quite a bit.

I found where their added 200 pounds on the x.
The owners manual.

The X is growing on me, but it just looks so damn fat. It's like a fat cruising car that tries to be the race car that the IX is. I could never give up my IX for a X, but I don't think I'd mind owning a X in addition to my IX.

Sometimes I park next to a 8 at work. Side by side the X doesn't really look that much larger. Your post had me curious... so I looked it up. They aren't that far off... the X is slightly larger.

X :
Length 4,495 mm (177 in)
Width 1,810 mm (71.3 in)
Height 1,480 mm (58.3 in)
Wheelbase 2,650 mm (104 in)

IX:
Length 4,490 mm (176.8 in)
Width 1,770 mm (69.7 in)
Height 1,450 mm (57.1 in)
Wheelbase 2,625 mm (103.3 in)

I believe that the owners manual only accounts for 53.627 of the 200 lbs.

I do know that the back seat alone was something rediculous like 63 lbs. When I weighed it I was shocked. I remember my 8's back seat being super light.

It may not be dimensionally that much larger, but I think the shape makes it look even bigger than it is. Every side is a slab side. The only part of an 8 or 9 that looks large is the taller windows and roof...you know, the classic econocar look. My biggest gripe about the X is that it is so hard to identify from a base cz4a lancer. Well, that and the curb weight.

is the evo a unique car?
I love the x, but my main gripe with it was knowing thinking that it was common. something I'm sure to see someone else driving often, instead of something like a rx 7, supra, or nsx.

however, where I an right now I mainly see sti. back in south hills, pa; it's mostly evo

Ya I guess I can understand what you are saying. I prefer the looks of the X over 8/9. I guess its all personal preferences. Some people like the ct9a looks better.

The extra 200 lbs is an issue. I plan to work on that bit by bit on mine. I guess you could say I already have.

I never see evos out here by the airport. One at work and pass one every other month in traffic . . maybe. They are always 8/9s when I do. I never see xs. I see at least 3 wrx/sti per day. Could be the subie dealer in moon. . . or production numbers.

Just saw this on craigslist....wish I had some extra cash....it would be nice to have a second EVO to strip down and make a full time race car.

http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/cto/2583631549.html

Just a heads up. There is a track day on Sunday Oct 2. Its cheaper then a flat out day and will get you more track time.

http://events.torquedracingsolutions...n-information/

That is the same day as the North park autumn leaf auto-x. This is usually a big turnout with a dinner, free t-shirt and trophy's.

I think i am going to go to beaverun for the track day myself. Anyone else wanna join in?

There are no reason to make excuses for the EVO X vs the previous generations. It stands well on its own and feels like stepping up 25 years in auto technology vs the previous cars.

Yes, it weighs more. A IX MR has 100+lbs over an IX RS. The X feels lighter on its feet then the MR I had, which felt from day one like it had a dead hooker in the trunk compared to my IX RS. In other words you could feel every ounce of that weight just driving around. Not so in the X.

Looks are subjective but the X is definately more of an adult automobile. I suspect even with the wing on the man will give me less ****.

They're all good choices. You really can't go wrong with any evo. Well, maybe an VIII with stock cams.

All just my opinion.
