too bad the wheels aren't Evo X MR wheels. Those would be a nice addition...Congrats on the New Purchase!

While the X has a great powerband, my butt-dyno(very reliable ) thinks that things like a turboback exhaust, and big fmic take away from the feel a bit. Don't get me wrong, it makes the top end feel so much better, and I have no doubt the car is quicker because it doesn't fall on it's face after 5.5k, but the feel of the car continuing to pull till redline just makes you want a higher redline. I guess I kind of like the idea of having peak power a good bit before redline so it's not as necessary to concentrate on shifts so much.

Congrats on the autox results. I'd heard of weekday autox's at beaverun before, but have never been to one. You probably get more runs, which is awesome.

Not to sure what you mean by the X having a different feel with fmic and tbe, maybe you need a tune or something?? My X with full bolt ons pulls pretty hard from around 3100rpms to 8000! But i have never driven a evo 8 or 9 so thats probably why.

And thanks! it all depends on the day they host it. Yesterday it was supposed to rain so the turn out wasnt to bad. think i got around 8-9 runs in. And that was with me letting my car cool off for half hour a couple times.

Considering my tires are complete **** and im on stock suspension except for my rear sway bar, i thought i did pretty good! I cant wait to pick up some coilovers and grab a decent set of tires.

Also for the autocross on sunday i wish i could go, but i have to work at 2:30. Maybe ill shoot up there around 10am and watch for a bit!
Josh...what was your time? I didn't know what a good time was...since I showed up late to the event after they cancelled the flashlights. I ran a 36.88 out of seven runs that I did....how does that compare?

If I made fun of the X it was because a certain race car driver had one. Name rhymes with "horse".

I'll probably scribble out my thoughts on how the 8 9 10 compare but one thing is for sure the X is COMPLETELY different.

No ****. I had to ****ing prop this ******* up in the back seat last night and belt his fat (formerly) debt ridden *** in.

One thing I am sure of. The very clever G meter/SAWC LCD setting is going to land my *** in some hot water!

Congrats on the purchase. Didn't take long for you to sell your 9. Congrats on that as well. You're right, the X is completely different. I have a lot more fun in my X than I did in my 8. I definitely am a HUGE fan of both platforms.... for completely different reasons.

Best time i ran that day was a 35.5 but that was skipping the back 3 double cones and not slalom them. Best slaloming them was a 36.2. without these ****ty tires though i know i could have pulled a low 35 if not 34.5 like both those lotuses were running! Oh well though

Look forward on seeing what you have to say about it!! Hurry and get some bolt ons and a decent tune and the car livens up a lot!

I traded it in. Lots of interest at my asking price. I should have made it higher and maybe I would have sold it private party but they had the one ecactly as I wanted sitting there. I really must say South Park was really great to buy from. It was really painless. They gave me what I asked for on trade and what I wanted to pay. It really could not have been easier.

The stock 2005, even with the hotside, more power and ACD was a dog. Modified she was better.

The IX RS was a bad ***** and the new owner & a certain mechanic has shown just how capable the RS platform really is with the help of her superb driving.
I do miss that one.

IX MR. Very civil car. Six speed is awesome. But it does fell like there is a dead hooker in the trunk compared to the RS.

Jury is still out on the X but I like it a lot so far.

I also updated my sig with a link to the stuff I have for sale. A cusco heat shield, tires rims etc. Make offers.

North Park Auto X - congrats - EVO's rule !!!

Congrats to Brant...for FTD at North Park.

The EVO's ruled on this course....it had a nice "drag start" to it. I need to seriously consider getting Hoosiers if I want to move up further...as the street tires just didn't have enough to hold.

The Miata showing repeatedly on the list is the sponge bob one...with the LS1 engine. They had multiple drivers running that thing.... Not your normal Miata that is for sure.

The weather held out...with six runs and fun runs.

Just a reminder to you guys....Beaver Run this Friday, gates open at 3:30pm. Flashlight drags, cruise, and the Auto X course is on again from 4pm to 8pm.

Yeah had a great time out on Sun. Weather held off so things worked out pretty good. Plus all the fast autox drivers stayed away. haha

I remembered a similar course setup from last year. There were a few little differences, so couldn't really compare times from last year.

I've never driven an older evo either. I drove my x stock for a few thousand miles, then with a cobb accessport for a couple, then installed FMIC, turboback, and drop-in filter and drove that for a while. Now i've removed the FMIC. I even removed the accessport at one point to see if it even felt like it was doing anything. it's actually fairly noticeable, but that doesn't mean I still couldn't use a tune. I have the common Black Cloud come out through 3rd.

It's just the way I feel, based on butt dyno. it's not reliable, but it just seems like the power shifted away from the bottom-end a bit, which is fine. It makes tight corners in autox a pita, but it works. and it was awesome on the track.

^ ah, well idk! my car has always seemed pretty stout even at lower rpms, and i have a black cloud in all gears not just 3rd. anything below 3k of course theres not really any power.

Heres 2 runs from beaver run, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0g0GZuGkjpQ
video taken by chris juliano. I liked the track setup better 2 weeks ago compared to this one but oh well! Sorry if my driving is crappy i was sliding all over the place

BR is tricky, i have always had trouble getting good grip in their VDA area. even running DOT rated R compounds i was still slipping and sliding.

i think it's due to the years of dumping sand on the VDA for drift practice. it has helped to polish it to a smoother finish.
