Your car sounded amazing dude. I woudln't change a thing

Well, the car was running around yesterday. Was trying to put some miles on it before the tune, and I can say one thing, the stroker definitely helps the spool on the turbo. I don't want to throw out a number, but I am pretty sure it is hitting full spool in the mid-low 3,000's. I didn't rev the hell out of it, just wanted to get some varied driving on the motor before the dyno.

I can't thank Mike enough for his help on this whole project. I can imagine he wanted to drive the car off of a cliff on more than one occasion, but it is all sorted out. So many issues, with the timing, water and oil pumps, etc...

I might start up a thread on the build and the final numbers she puts down. Many people have PMed me and asked about the numbers because they were interested in the HTA turbo choice. We shall see by Monday I suppose..

Any performance hits by adding a 2nd muffler in place of the cat?

Thanks. I do like the sound normally, but when doing 70mph on the interstate, the sound drones.
If it was a dedicated track car, I wouldn't be complaining.

Definitely start a thread. Will be interested to see what #s it puts down. Do you have a before plot on turbo spool before motor swap?

Yes, I have graphs of before vs after. In relation to your comment about loud exhausts, mine has gotten a little louder now too with the new motor. I even threw on a Mil.Spec 100-cell to try to quiet it down a little, but no dice, its even louder.

I need to find a place on the downpipe to add a resonator or something because there is no way I am going to hack the Ti of the catback exhaust. I would just like it if it were a little quieter.

Another thing that is night and day is the new 5 speed with all the shifter bushings and crap. It shifts like a rifle bolt, and is much stiffer than my 6 speed. I just hope the Twin HD can hold all that the motor is going to throw at it. I got a fork stop to prevent the clip from coming off, but I just hope there isn't too much torque for it to hold...

Glad to hear the 5spd is treating you well. I'm still holding out for shep to get that 6spd solution together. I saw where the one guy said he was told 4-6wks out. Hope that's accurate.

I hope so too, but when I was at Shep a month ago picking up my Tranny and crap he said he was just getting around to putting them in the drag car. So at the longest they have only been in less than a month. I don't know if there were any issues, but R&D to resolve any problems (IF THERE WERE ANY) could take a little while. That is why I decided to switch.

I really do hope they come out with something soon though. Probably 1/5 or so of our cars out there are 6 speeds (guesstimating) and that would open them all up to upgrades, so it is potentially a huge new market for Shep. Everybody wins, they make more money, and 6 speed users save money by not having to sell their transmissions for dirt cheap and switch over.

Congrats on getting it running I would have been pulling all my grey hair out while it was being sorted out.

Should be a great set up after a good tune....I would love to go the 2.1 or 2.2 route someday

I also have a second muffler....my exhaust is very tame under normal driving, no drone, etc. WOT its still pretty loud but not near as bad as some of the exhausts I heard. I run a generic SS 3" exhaust with a single magnaflow muffler in the rear - i got it used which it was reasonably quiet to begin with actually.

As far as performance I didn't feel any loss but its just butt dyno and its not good for much....maybe one of these days I will get some dyno time and do a swap and see what happens, I doubt you lose much if at all unless the muffler is extremely restrictive.

Its just a bullet muffler I got from summit racing - my friend dan welded the flanges on it for me and I can swap it in and out whenever I please.

Mike is the one who deserves the congratulations. I only funded the project ... We will see how she turns out. Mike said he will only be pleased if it hits 600whp.. I don't know if it has that much... the turbo would have to be blowing out if its mind.

Congrats on getting that beast running buchnerj! Looking forward to seeing what you'll put down with that turbo.

So, I finally got out to the track yesterday. Only got two runs due to a single raincloud washing out the track on a sunny day, but its not like I was expecting 5 runs at PRP anyway.

First Run: Ran immediately after driving 40 mins to the track. Didnt get a chance to let the car cool down. Spun all four through the top of first gear with a 1.81 60ft. Went on to run a 12.4284 @ 112.14mph.

Final Run: Car finally had a chance to cool. Let the 2-step bounce off of 6500 rpm. Did a real quick slip of the clutch and took off. Didn't completely floor it through first because I didn't want to spin. Took it up to 7500rpm, slammed second gear, and god bless that exedy twin - it just grabbed hard and took off. Clicked off a 1.77 60ft and was at a 7.777 @ 92mph through the 1/8th mile. Finished at 12.1016 @ 113.67 mph. Wasn't the 11.99 I was hoping to get, but I'm still pretty content. Have a ported intake manifold on the way and will probably be buying some 1000cc injectors as a b-day present to myself for today.

11's are coming soon and I can't wait.
