There sure would be a lot more safe drivers because they understand car control
Read your policies carefully! As Jermey mentioned there are very few (if any) insurance companies that will cover you in any type of "closed course" event regardless if it is considered untimed "driver education".
Will you try to get in some break-in/setup time tomorrow?Originally Posted by goforwand

Was going to but the weather isn't going to cooperate with rain and thunderstorms....still don't have the linkage on the wipers installed yet so it would be a bit tough to see Originally Posted by Eric Morse

Gotta finish up some stuff at my current company first. Looks like you guys have a pretty solid Evo community. I'm looking forward to that
yeah we do have a great community in the pittsburgh area.Originally Posted by k2evo

there are a lot of evo owners both on and off this board that have helped me immensely with everything from wrenching, tuning, parts, and just knowledge of the platform in general.
welcome to the city and the thread.

If I can find a replacement tire for the bmw (255/35/18 and NOBODY has one!) i'm going down on friday with my buddy to look at both of these as they are at the same dealer. What are your opinions on them and their price?
The first one here has had 2 owners and seems to have intake/exhaust/lowering springs as only mods but is really clean with 50k.

This one here is origional owner and has 34k but is pretty modded....I'm sure if It ran fine I could get it for the same price as the other one. Also HATE the avus wheels on it and hope I could trade them for the bbs wheels on the other one

The "500whp" one has an afr gauge and I will be driving it, What should it be reading at idle based on pump gas? 15.3 seems a little lean to me to be idleing?

That's a tough one Eric, 5sp or 6sp? Gt35r or stock turbo. Around same price. I'd prolly go with the modded one. 14.7 is normal, so 15.3 doesn't seem to bad. Mine jumps around 14-15 at idle.

Looks to be a cold motor (coolant temp gauge is buried) which when the car starts it normally is in open loop for a bit and can swing more until the motor / oxygen sensor gets heat in them. I wouldn't go by the picture - I am sure it idles in the 14.7 range in closed loop but depending on injectors, etc you could see a swing from like 14.3-15.3ish easily at idle once at temp and in closed loop.Originally Posted by Eric Morse

It should be reading "around" 14.7 at idle in closed loop - no matter the fuel.

Thanks for the info there, I'll have to keep a close eye on it while driving.Originally Posted by travman

I know nothing really about the meth/alcohol injection is their any damage to the motor that could have been done or anything special I should look out for with the car being modded?
I got a good handel on what to check with the other one being stock and how they behave. Just trying to find out if their is anything that is normal with something like this that I will see as a red flag like any driveability issues.

if its not tuned right or setup right the failure of the meth system can be catastrophic (were talking block vent mod).....if it were me I would go with the one that is closest to stock w/o meth. You could have a real headache on your hands if things weren't done right and to take the chance on it being okay is a gamble.Originally Posted by Eric Morse

That's all I need to hear!!
My chances of having an issue with the stock one with 50k, being as clean as it looks, should be much smaller than a cheap high hp build for sure.
My old VIII had a lot of issues when I first bought it and it spent well over a month of down time with fixing all the issues. I got things fixed just in time to be needing a more practical car! I'd like to have something that runs good out of the box. I'll just take the time and the money to do things right the first time and when I'm done have exactally what I want.

Well from all the 500+hp cars I see and hear broken lately, it makes me realize our cars are not even remotely able to be realible at that kinda HP. Personnaly i'd rather have a 400 hp car that runs all the time then a higher hp one that is always needing fixed.

I agree. I wouldn't go near the car with Meth. Just not worth the hassle/risk. You should be able to get that 1st one done in price. I bought mine for around that price and I only had 26k miles on it. Originally Posted by travman

Are you going to trade your BMW to them?
If not, here was one in Erie. Little bit more in price, but probably could talk him down in price.
