I had my rims powder coated at American Powder Coating just today. Looks real nice.

I had a quick question. My front have like a 3.5 finger gap while the back has a 1.5 finger gap.. Is this normal? My shocks arent blown or anything is it?

If that is normal, will lowering springs make everything even or will it drop everything accordingly?

Are you Julian's friend? The gap is normal, mines is the exact same thing. I'm hoping I can get my suspension installed soon to get rid of that 4x4 look

Ahh PHEW!... So how on earth does lowering springs work.. Lets say the springs give 2" drop front, 1.9" drop rear. Wont that just shorten the gap in the front but lower the rear beyond 18 lvls of hell?

I have no clue who Julian is.

Is it possible to put lowering springs on the front of the car only to have it match the height of the rears? Or is that not recommended.

So your rears are lower than your fronts by 2 inches still?

How much of a drop all around is your springs?

I wouldn't swap IX motor in, for one your guy's motors face the wrong way and you would probably need the wiring harness, ECU, drivetrain wise? I don't know. Sounds stupid swapping a 9 motor into an already 4G63T powered vehicle. Altogether would just be more work than straight building up the 4g63 that's already in there.

The more practical parts that are usable on a GVR4 from the Evo 8/9s, with some modification, are
Seats
Steering wheel
Suspension
Intercooler
Brakes
Has been some talk of using a Evo 8 rear diff, just can't be the ones with the AYC crap.

I rock a Evo 8 suspension on mine.

And in the area, the last two times! Dammit.
It's black and probably a 2nd owner car. There's another one down in Vancouver but it's close to $5k (the white one from the lakewood meet).

Ok, I couldn't walk by this discussion without saying anything. Don't take any of this the wrong way, I am actually trying to help. I think your focus on ride height is a little too short sighted or at least it appears that way from your last few posts. I think you need to browse through the suspension subforum a little bit before continuing down this road. The Evo rides high stock because of it's rally heritage where suspension travel is a good thing. If your rear end is sitting 2 inches lower than the front, there may be a problem that "lowering springs" won't fix. Are you still on the stock suspension? Make sure something isn't broken first.

If all you're concerned about is how low your car sits, just cut some coils off and be done with it. Slammed look, crappy ride quality. If you care about how your Evo handles, there are several spring options that greatly improve how your car handles and lowers it an appropriate amount. I'm on the GTWorx springs btw which are outstanding and a quick search will yield many similar opinions by fellow Evo drivers. So eliminate the term "lowering springs" from your vocabulary if you love your Evo.

Yeah, I still got some caffeine running through my system. Gonna try and go to sleep now.

You know you could sell that motor for money too.

damn, that is a pretty clean looking car even though those don't really grab me looks-wise (the potential is the key). If I didn't already have enough vehicles I might jump as that seems like a steal for $3k.

btw - what is the talk of pre-badging in that FS thread?

That is normal for stock suspension. Definitely don't do only the front suspension and not the rear. Go with a spring where the front is lowered more than the rear. It won't be enough of a difference to make them equal but it will make them less noticeable for sure. The Swift Spec-R's are a good choice for leveling out a bit, especially since they are very good springs. I only have context with them on the bilsteins though.

For shame. Now I'll need to find another place as well.

*edit - just saw Minh posted while I was typing. He is correct that you shouldn't worry about the look if you want to keep quality handling as part of your setup. BTW - do you have a subwoofer in the trunk? I do and it obviously affects the height back there. If not and you really want to even it out you might want to think about removing weight from the rear such as your spare/jack/tools. Other weight savings back there (though not as much) would be the rear windshield wiper/motor. I think that is going extreme in this state, but it isn't necessary and will save weight.

BTW Minh, sleep is way overrated!

There were 3 cars that came pre-badged out of the 3009 that were imported to the States. Most of the VR4s you see like mine have a badge with the number, example mine is #1350/2000. The "2000" is the amount of cars imported in 91', 92 it's "XXXX/1000". All the numbers are picked at random so if say you had a car that used to have a badge but one of the previous owners removed it then you are in most cases SOL to find out what number it was.

The badge number does not correspond to the VIN or year, just straight up randomly picked. One of the members on GalantVR4.org does keep a registry of all the past and present gvr4s that have popped up on the forum and what not, but still if the badge was removed, slim to none you will ever know what number it was.

Ahhh, now I got it and now some of the user sigs over there make more sense. Dammit mitsu, they should've done that with the other Evo's (other than the 0).

BTW - why anyone would remove that badge is beyond me.
