I couldn't be happier with my GESI G-Sport CAT, I don't think you will be disappointed!
I only plan on removing it for track events, and street tune-wise have not seen knock increase at all.

Aluminum generally shows scratches really easily. It'll probably be fine.

 

The scratches in that third photo def catch on my fingernails.

 

Geeze how was that thing packed? I like to lay the head down on a piece of cardboard and then shrink wrap the thing to seal it up and keep the cardboard tight to the surface so it doesnt get gouged up.

 

It wasn't from the packing. It's from the shop.

 

Yeah, its pretty typical for heads to get scratched up going around the machine shop. Milling the surface is last step before final wash and assembly. I'm sure it's fine.

Getting warmer here so I started getting a little more interested in the Evo again.

Worked on it for a couple of hours today. I couldn't for the life of me get the DP and hotside lined up to get the v-band on correctly so I pushed the car out and back in the garage sideways so I could jack the car up. Loosened the DP at the bottom and got everything lined up. Attached the turbo drain line at the block. Cleaned up a bunch of stuff from my mess that happened when I pressurized the crankcase almost two years ago. Amazing how I keep finding oil from that incident.

Keeping it on jack stands this week so I can swap in the GESI cat and finish up a couple things under the car.

I think I found out what was making the rattling sound at idle... lol

was it the washer or are there broken materials in the void between the perforated pipe and can?

 

Broken materials in the mini muffler. If I had to guess, the muffler material failed, melted and now it's a rattle can.

 

that sucks that it fails so quickly!
