Oh dear! I thought this was supposed to be straightforward, if not easy.

Pulling my engine, today, to swap in a brand new, OEM Shortblock. Kinda stoked....Kinda dreading doing it. Again. For the third time.

Put it on stands to see if I could find a suspension clunk, realized front passenger strut has to come out to really investigate, put it back on the ground, decided I would take it apart this weekend

It is a SOB to get off wheels. Don't do it. Last set of wheels I bought were dipped, took me 2-3 hours with a power washer and dip remover to get it all off

Today, My short block came in. And it came in a damaged cardboard box. With the plastic bag torn. And dirt, cardboard, etc in the cylinders, all over the crank, etc.

Talk about a gut wrenching feeling. I do know the feeling though.

Today, after wasting 2 years with a shop, I packed everything up and moved it to a more competent shop to finish this build.

Seller advised me to take pictures. I got video, also. They also had me receive the block so they could arrange for a different carrier to pick up. They have already contacted their vendor and are filling a claim. I hope to have good news today. They seem to be really on top of it.

Also take a pic of any serial numbers or identifiable marks on the block so the seller can't send that block back to you.
I work in shipping and receiving, just seeing that pissed me off.
The dock supervisor should get suspended for letting that leave the terminal like that.
And don't let them bs you, " Sir, we've inspected the block and our technicians deemed it suitable for use, we're going to send it back to you".
YOU WANT A BRAND NEW SHORTBLOCK FOR THE INCONVENIENCE

The vendor isn't trying to get out of it. They have an excellent track record and have taken responsibility. They agree the entire engine is contaminated and car be used. All information has been documented. I'm not worried it will be handled correctly, just that it's going to take a while. $3,200 is a lot of money to be out. We'll see how far they're willing to go.
