I'm really hopeful its the TOB...everything I'm reading seems to be pointing towards ISB since noise goes away with clutch pedal pressed to the floor. I also ordered 4 lifters for the hope that will make the ticking noise go away. With my luck we will need 5... Im really torn on the flywheel i loved the difference but just kinda a pain to me for daily driving. Trans has to come out one more time at least really don't wanna do it again other then when clutch is due again.

you couldve pocketed some lifters from the junkyard...i had a lifter tick and swapped them all with mirage lifters...they are only bout 1/16 bigger than ours

True but I don't even know how many I have bad if any just clogged. We cleaned the head during the motor swap but didn't bleed them so either 1-2 could be bad or all. We just ran out of time when we dropped the trans to check that out and with how far 03 is from me trying to make the most of when either of us drives out. I gotta say thanks to him as I wouldn't be anywhere near this point without his help and know how.

Pretty confident that when we pull it out again spinning the input shaft manually will tell us what we need to know whether its the ISB or TOB. Honestly with the noise that its making I would have expected to feel something when I spun that tob while it was out which I did not.

Its pretty easy. For the seals and the input shaft bearing I ordered them all from the local mitsu dealer. id install a new input shaft seal in there, since your already in there. since your not going to take apart the LSD i wouldnt worry about the axle seals right now. If your taking apart the transmission just for the ISB you have to remove (18) bolts on the transmission case and then remove the service plug(rubber grommet cap) and spread the snap ring apart, to separate the transmission. It shuld be pretty straight forward. Just take the snap ring off the top of the input shaft closiest to the bearing with two screw drivers.. pry both ends apart and slide it off the shaft. To getthe bearing off your going to need a hydraulic press or Ive heard of someone removing it with a gear puller. If you dont have access to a press to press off the bearing you can use a heat source and heatt up just the bearing to expand it and slide it off that way. Same goes for installing the new one, heat up the new bearing and hammer it on if you dont want to go to a place and have them press it on.

Well ISB is done, noise is gone, old bearing hardly spins and makes a little noise when spin by hand. We cleaned all my old lash adjuster and resealed the lower oil pan. When we first started the car up it idled like crap and thought it was something bad turns out we forgot to plug in one side of the spark plugs haha... did a little logging. seems like 7lbs is tuned about as best as we can. However can't explain it how ill have 3-4 pulls back to back with almost 0 knock then the next one 30+ counts. At this point car is idling the best it has since swap. Hopefully get it down to english racing in a couple weeks for SD Tune & fix the ic Pipes. I am really debating switching to e85 but I would have to store at least 10-20 gallons at home to make it do-able since no e85 stations within 30mins. Incase anyone has todo there ISB here are the parts needed thanks to corn dog.

2526A001: Bearing, M/T Input shaft
MD741818: Oil seal, M/T Input shaft
MD746157: Cap, M/T Case Seal

Took a few pics but not much since we got focused trying to get as much done first day.

How many miles were on the transmission? I had 191,000 before I changed out my ISB. Looks like everything went smooth for ya. Good work.

Holy hell how many miles you got now lol? Transmission has 128k on it. I think its been failing for last 10k or so since a noise we heard after turbo install slowly got louder till this point. After bleeding the lifters and replacing the ISB the engine sounds much better IMO. 03 can describe it better I'm sure. I just wish we had an answer whats up with the tune in sense of back to back runs are fine then get a random run with so much knock i have to let off. Hopefully Aaron @ English can figure it out.

almost 200,000 on the transmission. The motor was rebuilt about 200 miles ago though. Just bought a new cat because I keep failing the smog check and Ive eliminated just about everything for a high NO reading from are cars. Once I get registered turbo kit is getting installed and tuning phase will commence.
