^^^ +1 to this guy. I am in no way condider myself a noob, but in the eyes of the rest of the members the post count is the deciding factor to how "evolved you are" I've had this account for over a year and I don't post up every meaningless complaint i have or even use up pointless posts to get my count up. (besides this one) A lot of folks mainly the "noobs" who are trying to get their 50 rant about nonsense and fill what would be use threads into about 10 pages of junk.
Don't really have a fix. Lower the post count or deal with 50 post from every guy that just bought thier evo and have an opinion about something. 50post for every member on this forum might turn into a whole lt of crap. Keep up the good fight mods.

^^^ Go figure this was my 50th ha.

I didn't read through this entire thread, but if someone has 52 posts and a join date of a week ago and posts in the F/S section its almost common sense to look into the member further, right?

yes and no. You are right, no doubt. However, there are so many posts happenin' all over the place that to keep track of this would be a difficult endeavor. Not only do the mods have to watch out for people trying to rip us off, but they've gotta play ethics cops on every other thread, which is no doubt time consuming. These forums are simply HUGE.

I dont think thats a good idea, because then you will just see MORE spam posts to get to 100 and hurt people like ME! I had to make a new account and I can't post my stuff I need to SELL!!! haha

I have been a member since Nov 09. Not long, but I have contacted members with items for sale in the classifieds through PM and made quite a few purchases with feedback for most. I was wondering if anyone would consider removing the restrictions for a noob with 5 to 10 positive Itrader feedback from other EVOM members? Not that it really matters but it is a little frustrating when I ask a simple question about an item and I have to do it through a PM. It affects other members as well, they can't see the answers I get for the items listed... Just a thought.

In my case, I do alot of reading and searching for the answer I'm looking for verses making a ton of unnecessary posts to get my post numbers up.

I wanna thank all the guys that were nice enough to answer their Pm's and let me buy items from them.

on the money right there. agreed. either feedback score, join date, or posts should be the requirement.
I have quite a few parts I can sell off, and its irritating to search through the wtb threads.

I say instead of changing the amount of posts. Change the amount of time they have to have their account. 30 to 60 days or from 30 to 90 days.

i'll add my $.02:

i, as with the guy that posted above, had all KINDS of trouble buying parts. here i was, a new evo owner, and i couldn't ask questions about anything on the boards. i had to PM everyone, which wasn't TOO big of a deal... but it just made it hard to keep track of.
"oh. thanks for getting back to me. so... which bumper did you have? what were you selling? sorry.. i have about 150 PMs out 'cause i can't post on the forum". LOL
i was rebuilding a salvaged vehicle and had a hell of a time getting it done. this seemed to be the best forum to use, but i was too limited.
is there a way to let us post replies and do PMs, but maybe not start new for sale threads?? or are you guys worried about buyers scamming too?
i had to ***** it up to get 50 posts, and i hated every minute of it. i couldn't contribute decent posts 'cause .... well... i knew very little about these cars. i learn by having conversations, not coming on to a new sight and reading for a month straight before i can make a post.
i nearly gave up on this place.
i believe i too had a trader rating before i could post. LOL @ that. pretty funny, IMO.

there has to be a better way. i mean, you can only do SO much to counteract scammers before you start hurting the new members.

i help run a site. we have a classified section for everyone (each new account is personally approved before being able to sign in), and another for members with 1000 posts or more. but that is solely for use by the active members of the board. 100% trusted people.

i like the idea of having more than one way to get in. post count, trader rating, OR a "hey, this guy is a friend of mine, i can vouch for him.".

HELP NEW EVO OWNERS BUILD THEIR CARS!!!

:P

I read thru most of this thread and it seems the only people complaining are the people that are trying to hit 50 posts or are new.. To me your opinion doesnt really matter on these things due to u are all trying to get the post count up so u can sell so ofcourse ur going to complain and say 100 posts isnt a good idea.. but to people that have been on here for awhile its and excellent idea cause new people are coming on all the time and scamming.. I think it should be a 100 posts and 6 months till u can sell.. 6 months is and adequet amount of time to hit 100 posts and will weed out people trying to scam...

Useless post or opinion?

I've been member since 2006, and utilized forum alot for answers without posting.

I decided today to post because I truly need help upgrading my SST trans.

I also decided what the heck I may spend time in other areas to share what I can.

Kinda felt like today I might become part of the forum, not just use the forum.

Now, I wonder if peeps think I posted a bunch today just to sell items.

First, I do not intend to sell anything, at least not today or in near future.

Second, this thread showed some attitudes I also see at times in racing that stink.

Third, I believe scams exist everywhere that involve people; most peeps are good.

Fourth, I hope peeps use this forum as a service and enjoy as a hobby, not a life.

Last, I trust admins use cool fair judgement in changing any rules, esp for sales.

What if I was told today I deploy to Iraq and need to sell my car today ASAP? sol!

And I guess if person here has 500+ posts will never scam me? Riiiiight...

I'm turning this forum off for awhile; my rose colored glasses got too steamed!

I don't think the post count really matters. If someone is serious about scamming or trying to scam they will hit the 100 post count just by posting stupid stuff. But having minimum time on the forum should help alot. Just my .02
