jake, thanks for the insult. our shop can do anything your place can do we just choose not to, yet. our head tech has more experience with any cars than all of those kids combined over there. he is a top fuel mechanic by trade and has been offered many jobs with a few nhra teams but he has a family here that he can't leave.

as for doing your front and rear brakes, i challange you to do them in 30 mins from start to finish. i'll even let you use my tools and i'll even have all the right tools out for you. wanna bet?

I'm talking with that guy. He PM'ed me last night before they went public. I offered him $250 like Scott got his for. He wanted $300. Now it's $325. But I would still like to grab them.

Anyone want a used axleback exhaust, not the stocker, I'm selling mine to make way for the full 3 inch stuff.

Whoa, Ray, I wasn't trying to insult you, and I wasn't talking about the brakes, it was a joke because we forgot my exhaust would be hot, and then the gasket problems...I was proving the point that you choose not to, yet...I would MUCH rather bring it to you for anything and everything regardless of your tech's knowledge because YOU know my car better than "my place", my point is that I can't, because that's not what you guys are made for, yet...hopefully all the big parts stay in-tact untill that "yet" happens, in no way whatsoever was I trying to insult you...a clutch job, or cam set up, or removing my bumper and doing my intercooler or something is not what your schedule is set up for, and it's what their's is, as crappily set up as it is, sure...you're a great guy to do it on what little free time you have to help a friend out, but it's mostly as a favor and on a weekend at hours YOU've chosen...I appreciate it a lot, especially for the little things so far, but if I needed a clutch, I'd like to have it installed on MY schedule, and you don't have the free time for that, and I don't blame you, if you did have the free time, I'd instantly go to you without a second thought

I'm sorry if I offended you in any way Ray, I didn't mean to, it was my rude upfront way of trying to pressure you into starting up the full shop because I don't want to take it "there"

this is a funny topic because the reason why there is not more shops that work on cars like ours is the sole reason that things that should take 3 hours take 5 hours & time is money... i would offer to service & do anything to anyone's car on this board because i can and that's what i do but @ the same time if someone's aftermarket part fails what's the chances the owners going to blame me/or my shop for the problem. only time will tell if i will offer my shop/services to anyone that can't do something to there own evo like clutches, cams ect. for now it's just a hobbie.
i helped ray put in his cams but i also told him i have lifter tick so he might also his never had the lifter tick but what if some guy sues you because" his car ticks & it didn't before" this is the reason why modern is so backed up & why there hourly rate is pretty high!!! aftermarket stuff just takes more time to install & make right than anything else. this way shops get a bad name ect. if you guys need some advice on how to do something i would be glad to help you through it.

if you notice almost every person in the dsm club in utah works on there own car because they want it done right and trust me when you know the in's & out's of your car it makes trouble shooting a problem a million times easier.
i'm not sure why i posted this but oh well atleast it will get some conversation going. ok i'm done now.

Good points Zach, I'm still sorry too Ray, and I'd rather a hobbiest who's done it on his own car do it to my car than someone who hasn't done it to an Evo...and I oh so incredibly wish I could do everything on my own car...and have a lift to use and all the tools and stuff....someday maybe, someday

zach, even if i did have problems with my car due to your cam install, i wouldn't hold you responsible. now if i paid you a lot of money, well that would be a different story. you were nice enough to offer and help me. there's no way i would be able to blame you if something went wrong. i personally don't mind offering help to people that need it. it's cause all the people that offer and help me with my problems. it's my way of paying back even tho it may not be to the person that helped me in the first place. only problem is when people know what i do and have done for others, i get bombarded with people asking for "favors" a lot and i have to unfortunately tell some people no which is hard for me to do (well it depends who it is ). as for your comment about things that should take 3hours taking 5, i know what you mean but what should take me 3 ends up 7 at times. i'm sure you know by now . it's not that i'm slow, i just wanna make sure it's done right in the first place. i don't just take the time on my car, i do it with everyones cars.

anyway, what's up with your alignment?

hey you're right in a way. i didn't know zach b4 i had him help me and was unsure if he was good or if he was bad at what he does. just cause a guy claims he's worked on his evo doesn't mean he knows or can do $hit the right way. the right way is my way... the only way i know. that is doing it right in the first place. but when he said he doesn't like to do cams the "cheater way" i knew i could trust him with my car. people that take short cuts to make the job go faster shouldn't be working on cars, period. as for the guys on the utah board, zach and rob are the only 2 guys i will ask for advice and help. that's really too bad for the both of them.

damn you should've just taken it when he offered it to you @ 3hun. scott's deals a rare one. most used ones i've seen sell for in the 4hundreds. i think scott just got stock ones with hks stamped on them.
