your more likely to get your valves to float with the higher lift cams, buy the hks cams they are well proven! my 272's idle pretty damn smooth i'm very pleased with them.
hey rob i raced a primer turbo hatch on the freeway that thought he was bad *** i pulled his *** hard!!!!! i was on race gas, his car was all stripped out with a tubular manifold and some sort of to4e turbo it was funny!i'm not sure which motor he had it was a b16 or b18 he was actually calling out spoolin & cody to race & that's where we were going but i decided to race him for fun!!!!

that's awsome man!! Your car pulls hard on the freeway!!
Last night out of nowhere John Gill called me and told me he was going to tear his car down for the winter, and wondered if I wanted to come and abuse it. So Mitch and I went out and drove it. On the way back we ran into some guy in a camaro ss that thought he was bad so we went from a 50mph roll, the car was only running 13psi, I hit it, and when I hit full boost (13psi at 6200rpm, nothin like a gt70 on a 1.8) the tires broke loose, so i'm spinning the wheels and still pulling this guy, after the shift light came on at 9grand I shifted to fourth, and put a few bus lengths on him. He pulls up next to me and had the nerve to say, "kinda sucks racing in traffic, it would have been close otherwise" Mitch and I were just rolling we were laughing so hard. Driving a car like that realy makes you appreciate awd.

His car is pretty sweet, he dynoed 598 to the wheels on his old turbo (turbonetics 60-1), so he should make a considerable amount more power now. This new turbo he has flows 85 ppm, and the 60-1 flows like 65 ppm. The other cool thing is the pressure ratio that the gt-70 reaches, in the 70 percentile island it is at like 3.7 pressure ratio, 80,000rpm. So even at 13psi it's probably flowing about 50ppm!!!!!!!!!!
that's about the ppm i want to flow like 42 to 50 ppm you thought your turbo was laggy, that ****er would suck on our motors but the ol rev to the moon honda it's not to horrible!
have you bought a aem yet?
have you bought a aem yet?
no, I spent the money I had for the aem on some tein flexes. So now I have to sell my utec before I can get one. I'm still debating between the aem and the Hydra EMS. Mitch is going to get the hydra next month, so I may wait till then to make a decision.
So, Saturday night, an air intake hose came loose and my car died on the side of NB I-15 coming home from Provo visiting friends a BYU, not a fun experience, I thought the car blew up....again, luckily it took them like an hour to fix this morning so I went to pick it up after school and they gave me a free oil change card because of all the trouble and the fact that it COULD have been their fault...The only draw back to it, is now it'll take a lot more convincing to get my parents to let me even get just the Exhaust, let alone the MBC and all the other jazz...but then again, at least it didn't blow up again
Yeah, scary as heck though, so any ideas on how to convince the parentals now? Adding power and after-market parts tends to add risks, so what do I do? I still think I want to replace the clutch and flywheel asap, that gets rid of a lot of risks there, but there's so much more to a car than that...anyway, I think I saw you leaving for lunch today astro, going west downtown at like 12ish when i was riding trax
Did the hose fall off before the turbo? If so, tell your parents you need to upgrade your intake. But uh oh, now it won't quite work right with the maf, so you better upgrade your ecu just in case. But this new ecu isn't tuned for a stock motor, and its just not gonna run right until you get some cams and an exhaust. Sounds reasonable to me.
And I wasn't going to lunch today, no no today was my hell day. I stayed up too late the night before and so I slept through my alarm today. I woke up about the time my class started, and I had to pick up a test and turn in homework for that class, plus I needed to talk to a professor about a lab position. So I was running pretty late and I didn't have time for the usual bus method of getting to school, so I thought I would make up some time with the mighty evo. But I missed my class by about an hour, turned in the homework late, and missed the professor I was supposed to talk to.

Ouch, that bites, and I have no idea, it was an intake air hose and that's all they told me, plus why would you need to upgrade the intake then? lol, you forget my dad knows more about cars then I do now
Well if the intake is connected to the airhose or whatever, and it keeps falling off, then maybe the intake is faulty (somehow). Then it looks like you would have to replace the intake to cure the problem, and you might as well stick it to mitsubishi and go for a better aftermarket piece that won't always leave you stranded in provo, and then the cycle of upgrading can commence.
Sounds like intercooler piping to me. You just need to learn to fix it yourself, it's not a big deal, I had to reattach three different intercooler hoses within an hour in Vegas off the side of i-15 (gotta love 28psi). You could upgrade you intercooler hoses to samco, and get t-clamps, and that would probably remedy the problem. As for making up excuses over the board, isn't your dad a regular on this site???
Yeap sounds like intercooler piping.
First off get a K&N filter. It's the first step to getting good airflow. That's an easy sell, no problems with it. Then try for a cat-back exhaust. No actual moving parts or dangerous issues with a new exhaust. If your feeling good throw in a downpipe as well. None of those things will really effect safety. Maybe try to go with a bunch of gauges so you can keep an eye on everything.
