Hey I have a question...What cams give the most power? HKS 272s give what 10.8 lift? But the 260 Tomei Procam or something...the one that gives 11.5 lift. HKS 264 give 10.5? People say the 264s give better lowend and 272s high end. What gives the most power output low and/or high end? I read that Higher lift gives more power...but whats the difference between the 260, 264, and 272 numbers? Anyone Know?

Green! Hey if anyone wants, meet at Porcupine Grill at the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon Saturday (tomorrow) morning at 10:30, a bunch of S2k guys are getting together, and I'll need back up (and yes, I made sure Evos were welcome) If anyone wants to come, just show up, I'll be in the Evo with the ski rack and UofU stickers in the back window, or the black S2000 missing the H emblems on the front and back. If not, no big deal, I'll just fend them off on my own...

I'll be there ... S2Ks rule! I'm not sure Evo owners have the IQ to even find the grill.

Does that mean that Christian got the S2K all tuned for you? What did it end up putting down on the dyno? That is a very nice car, enjoyed looking at it while we were there at the dyno day.

Some of us have enough left from driving an S2000 that we can find it, and it's not quite totally finished all the way, the AEM is limiting it right now so he doesnt blow it up

You mean it is tuned mildly, im guessing, not being limited by the AEM, right? The AEM has so many bloody functions and capabilities, that it is possibly limitless.

I'd love to come, but I've got to play carpenter tommorrow. Let us know next time with a little more notice,
thanks,
Rob

Wish I'd known with a little more notice, and by the AEM limiting it, I mean Christian set the rev limiter on the AEM to 5k, which means on the freeway you're in like 5th gear already

The numbers you're refering to are the duration that the cam keeps the valves open. 260 degrees to 272 degrees. The difference is going to be the amount of air and fuel that can enter the combustion chamber, and obviously the overlap that the valves stay open. You'll experience a rougher idle with a larger duration cam. But You're going to be able to achieve more power with longer duration. As far as lift goes, the disadvantage of the tomei cams over the HKS cams is the simple fact that you will also need stiffer springs and stronger retainers. That will cost you about $300 more in parts, and i'm not sure how much more for labor (Zach should be able to tell you that). As far as performance difference in the Tomei vs the HKS, you should probably do a search. There are a few really good threads on here reguarding cam profiles, and power output,
hope that helps a little

5k, that's crazy, especially on a car that revs to like what 8k stock?? Did you guys do a turbo kit on it?? I'd be interested in seing it. It's been a while since I last raced auto-x. I used to co-drive the blue wrx with 5-zigen wheels. I think the last time I saw you guys auto-x it was this spring in wendover.

Super-charger, and it's 9k stock, it'll be back to 9k as soon as we get the wider dual-exhaust, from the little single we had. Well actually since the engine overhaul I think it's like 9200 rpm now. And as for auto-xing, I have no idea how many more times were gonna come out to that, once you've got track, you'll never go back

Concerning the cams...
I heard that a combo of 264 intake and 272 exhaust was good for the street, thereby eliminating some of the rough idle problems. Anyone care to chime in? Also, would the larger lift Tomei cams have any problems knocking the valves into the piston?
