That is only in davis and salt lake county, weber, boxelder, cache, and washington county don't have that law. All of california is that way, you can in no way legally modify your exhaust, I believe colorado is the same way. The point is to research your local laws and know them when you get pulled over. I've spent enough time in the court room this past year to realize how much our local law enforcement gets away with because we as citizens are ignorant. I saw a trucker who bumped a guys bumper three times get off on reckless driving because he didn't violate three consecutive moving violations, which is what classifies reckless driving. If we know what the laws are, we can legally modify our cars accordingly.

Yeah, well I got pulled over in the S2000 once and they told me that the headlights and engine noise weren't stock and this was just after we got it, welcome to a world where cops no absolutly nothing about tuner cars...as per the noise ord. all it is is that you can't increase total db to over what it is stock (that's why motorcycles can be so dang loud) And as for the Modern Dyno Day, I could talk to them if you want since they love our family so much lol, I'd like to see what I'm putting down stock before I do anything just to see what things add.

Thanks Lib. Good Post. I hope to *cough* not use shep's services, unless 'really' necessary ... but in case I have too, it won't be a bank buster

Later,

jcnel.

Yea but the cops in Cali cant just pull you over because you have a modified exhaust...they have to have proof that your exhaust was loud enough to be over 95db...so unless you were flooring your car to redline with a cop present then they cant do anything. Also says in the link that when they test the DB of your exhaust they have to hold it 20 inches away from the exhaust and have your car operate at 3000 to 5000 rpms in Neutral...most, maybe all exhaust are not even loud enough to be 95 db in neutral operating at 3000 to 5000...I dont really know though...i dont have a DB tester...

Heres where I found the link at...

UT EVO, you've heard Ethan car (white civic hatch always in the top two or three fastest of the day at the autocross events) It registers 98dbs at wide open throttle, that car is freakin loud, it's even louder than mine. So I think it's safe to say that as long as your not stupid, you'll be fine.

Yeah, that's true Rob, I'm really not all that worried anymore, but I still think just to be safe I'm gonna get a High-Flow Cat instead of a Cat-delete...I dunno, it'll be awhile, I gotta replace the clutch before it totally goes bad so that's first on the list still and that's a large chunk of change. Which white civic? Wait, I don't think anyone there has a white Civic, a guy that used to work there has or had that red civic that was doing like 9s at RMR. Eric has a Blue Subby 2.5 one of the older ones. Christian has a...Yellow? integra and a green subaru stationwagon and I don't know what anyone else there drives. Anyone know why we were even talking about Cali?

I wouldn't worry about exhaust issue's. Get the HKS cat-back and a Helix downpipe, go with a high-flow cat just so you have something there in case a copper looks under your car. You won't have any problems.

HE doesn't work at modern, you've raced autocross with him. White black carbon fibre hood, gold wheels, always close to having fast time of the day.

Yeah I know Ethan doesn't work at Modern, Ethan has been over swimming at my house, lol, way to quote me and make me look stupid! And has anyone told me if a Turbo-Outlet is worth it or not? And what's the difference between high-flow cat and catless power like 5-10 hp? Didn't Ethan get his license taken away awhile back?
