Used Utec = ~$500
I'd look into the Utec.
I would second what Zach/astro just said. The utec is going to be a lot better choice then having Al tune the car.
Ty your car looks like it could have a lot of potential in the right hands. But from what you're explaining, i'd highly suggest you turn the boost down until you can get it straightend out. You may experience engine trouble otherwise. I imagine that you are experiencing lean missfire, not rich missfire. The combination of higher altitude (thinner air) and lower octane fuel would cause exactly that. Under acceleration when you're "in boost" it takes extremely rich conditions to see rich missfire, something around 9.8 to 10:1 air fuel ratios. On the other hand, if you are running lean, all it takes is mid to high 13's, which wouldn't be hard to see on a stock ecu, not to mention that the timing happy stock ecu isn't exactly prefered for turbos that will flow upwards of 50PPM.
Do you have a high Res camera?? Can you pull a spark plug and take a good photo?? If you can I can more than likely tell you what the car needs. A safe boost level would be anything under 18psi in the mean-time.

also, if you do buy a Utec, christian with modern garage can dyno tune the car. It will be tuned safely and professionally which from what i've heard is a little more than what you can expect from Al.

but if you did not take off the timing belt then i am out of ideas.
