I would be down of a trade for alignment for cams install if rob and zach aren't. I have the shop manual for the evo so i have all the specs a shiz like that. I haven't done them yet but I have worked on cars and know i would not have a problem doing them. I will be doing them on my car as soon as i get some $$$

oh, and a good torque wrench. ours suck for light torque specs.

and onemore thing, keep in mind i am the most **** perfectionist there is. i don't trust anyone and that's why i try to do everything myself. i like to double, triple check everything and it takes me three times as long as it should to do something. if that doesn't bother you... i'm in!
i must be old school because i just take the t-belt covers off & the t-belt then put my cams in. i've never done cams the "cheater way" i do have a brand new snap on tourqe wrench that does small stuff. (i do have a tool for the adjuster just not one like that) just let me know if you would want to do it my way if not you can get the tool & we can do it the faster way.

what do you mean by the cheater way?

i really don't care how it's done, just as long as it's done right. i've seen too many shops take as many short cuts as possible to make the job go faster and still charge what "mitchell" says it's gonna take. i've always told everyone that if i was tech/mechanic and i charged the hours it would take to repair something that a "manual" said it would take, i'd end up making less than minimum wage. lol. i like taking my time cause i want to make sure it's done right the first time.

well the cheater way is taking the top t-covers off then putting that tool in, taking the tension off the belt then romoving the cams with the belt still on them. holding the cam gears while someone repaces the cames & slides the cam gears back on.
i personally do not like this because what if the t-belt skips teeth?
i like to do it like i'm just replacing the t-belt by taking it off then replacing the cams, then just line up the marks & put the belt back on. this way takes longer but you can check all your marks after your done putting the cams & belt on ect. the tool i have just let's you adjust the adjuster while tightening the bolt on it. ( you really don't need the tool but we just have it because some cars are kinda hard to get to) i would not do my own car the cheater way because i don't trust it. + our cars only have the 1 belt before the timing case so it's easy to get to anyway.

hopefully that makes sense to you. i would imagine it would take us 3 to 4 hours to do them right! the cams are the longest part!! do you have air tools??

sounds good! i rather do it your way then. i'm not into cheating. yes we have air tools. the shop is big and heated. it's not some small garage or anything. so i'm in if you're in. how's this saturday sound? cams my car, alignment your car.

they actually rode better than stock imo. handling was improved slightly. flattened the car out. i only bought them cause they jic's were on back order and i hated how high the car was stock.

what are you trying to gain by doing springs?

want it to handle better?

just want it lower?

both?

Scott wants both.

I wish all these alignment talks would have started earlier, my car is down in Springville at the alignment shop as we speak. The group of "import" guys down in Orem where I live all use this guy. But I would have just brought it to you Ray had I put 2&2 together.

What type of specs would you suggest? I'm having it set back to stock, 0 toe in the front, 3 mm of toe-in at the rear, and -1 degree of camber front and rear. Currently my car wears the front, inside edges of the tires like a banshee. I'm sure the fronts have toe out. Hopefully I'll have even wear now.

I want my car to handle fairly neutral, with just a tad of understeer built in. I come from a rally-car background and usually left-foot brake to balance the car and loosen the back end.

I want both.....but I am debating on coilovers, because every car that I have owned and put springs on, the shocks end up going within the year. I don't know if these will do that or not. I don't want that to happen. Plus there is no aftermarket shocks available for these cars besides the MR's Bilsteins?
