I had a excellent tune on the stock ecu, and had to take the car in for warranty work and in the process the dealer fried my ecu somehow. Of course they blamed it on my turbo timer and therefore voided the warranty on the ecu. Gotta love that. Funny thing is that it worked just fine before I dropped it off with them. Who is the factory trained Utah county guy?

 

I had more driveability issues with my stock ecu than I've ever had with the AEM. Granted open ECU wasn't available at the time and so I had to rely on other tuning means.

600 awhp with what correction factor? I'd like to see a car make 600 uncorrected whp through a stock maf. I'd think you'd have to rescale the MAF table in order for it to keep up, I started seeing problems with fuel calculations around 29k hz across the MAF, I would guess that was somewhere in the 40-45lbs per minute of airflow range. If you could get it to calculate correctly, it's still a huge restriction if you're running any decent sized turbo.

Modern day stock ECU's are very capable of a lot of cool things, but standalones make more power with a lot less work, and if you know what you are doing, driveability can be just as good if not better than stock.
