updated wrx... what does this mean for the ralliart
I have the money for an GSR but im more interested in the Ralliart due to the trunk space and folding seats so this is not always true i have the money it just comes down to practicality for me...
I do strongly agree with you on the subaru being the trusted brand in the US when really i believe strongly in
's reliability

All they had to do was revise the tuning and switch out the turbo and exhaust, at least as far as power was concerned. It's also possible/likely that they've been sitting on this ever since they heard about the Ralliart.
I used to work for Subaru of Dallas and we have known about this change to the 09 WRX's since last year. The suspension changes feel great.
The ones i drove were manufacture WRX's.
They will be avail to buy/test drive next month.

Maybe mitsu will do business like that some day.... i prefer mitsu but subi is flipping the right switches business wise...
I am new as far as considering this type of car. What is the reliabilty/reputation b\t Mitsu and Subie overall for their AWD cars? Tranny, diffs, engines etc?
Also, I recently had the Mitsu dealer near me (Medina) close. What are the chances of Mitsu leaving the US market and leaving me hanging with a car and no dealer network?
Also, in taking so much time for this RA to come out, I will be able to drive the 09 WRX in a few weeks. I do think they look better in person than in pictures. The scrawny wheels (narrow) on the RA do not do it any favors.

If your compaing STI's to EVO's, the STi is more reliable, take more effort to break it. However the EVO take mods very well and you can make more power, cheaper, on a EVO.
The Ralliart is brand new so we wont know how its going to hold up.
The WRX's always had problems with the transmission gears breaking when the car was moddified and put more power through the gears. STI doesnt have that problem.
Evos had differential problems, Subarus dont.
Evo's 6 speed MR tranny is weak, while the 5 speed is bullet proof
Subaru its the opposite, the STI 6 speed is bullet proof, and the 5 speed is weak when more than stock power is put through it. However the 2009 WRX will have the tranny from the Legacy GT so it will be able to take more power. It was the 2002-2005 WRX's that had the most problems.
Its all how you treat the car.
Both cars have their advantages and their disadvantages. STIs are more reliable in some senses (namely transmission and clutch) but less reliable in other senses (engine). Traditionally its been easier to make power with the evo but that's changing as evident by work done by AMS and Buschur. As said, 3rd gear is considered problematic on the WRX but that's only if you plan on launching it or side stepping the clutch on a regular basis. Despite what some people think, it's easy to make power with the WRX. I will have spent about 2400$ to get to 350 HP (VF43, TMIC, TBE, tune).
