updated wrx... what does this mean for the ralliart
The powerbands are probably nearly identical for the two cars, most reviews seem to praise how quickly the power comes on and how long it lasts for both the Ralliart and the WRX. Don't forget turbo size plays a role as well. While I'm not completely sure on what turbo is being used in the WRX, I've heard it's either the VF48 from the STI or possibly the turbo from one of the Legacy models. Supposedly a TD04 is used in the Ralliart which explains why it hits earlier but it'll run out of steam towards the end. To put it in perspective, my car has a TD04 in it and it's great from about 2800-5800 after which power drops off like a rock (hence why I'm switching to the VF43).
The turbo will be of the Legacy variety. The throttle body is offset, where the STI is still centered on the block. The '09 WRX still has the same intercooler as the '08 WRX (which is the same or similar to the LGT), as well, from the pictures I've seen, so it will definitely be either the current Legacy turbo, or the next gen. one...
Spec B and regular GT turbo= SAME. No difference in power between the two. P/N 14411AA670. The '08 WRX is a tdo4 with the Legacy configuration. I will have to wait for September's parts update to find out for sure what the '09 WRX will be running...
Interesting.... So much WRX update and discussion, for some reason what happened to Ralliart.... It just become like dead horse. Usually Mitsubishicars.com would have an update on their website Ralliart 2009 coming soon or something before the upcoming month of the release. That usually the case on all their cars. So I guess that ralliart would have another big delay, or they just suddenly screwed for the recent news of WRX09 that they are having hard time to find its counter attack.
I thought the Spec B made more power than the regular GT.
I find it interesting that the RA and '08 WRX come with the same turbo. The fact that the '09 WRX comes with a *larger* turbo may be the reason Mitsu has balked at its release. I also find it interesting that Subaru chose to run a larger turbo when the tdo4 is handling the RA's 2.0liter at over 260 torque. The WRX's 2.5 would definitely stress that little tdo4 more at more boost to achieve that level, though.
Nope. Not in North American cars, but I'm not sure about elsewhere. Spec B designation is for "Bilstein" as in the struts that come standard. Wheels, interior trim, Nav, and probably some other trim pieces are the differences between the GT and Spec B...power levels for both are right at 250.

ah yes, the six-speed *headslap*
I know a lot of guys who ran 18g's and went BACK to td04's for the better daily driven turbo. The appeal of a better top end slowly fades when driving in traffic every day or for those occasional rally/auto-x's. For a dedicated track car, a bigger turbo is a definite
The gearing along with the SST and 2.0liter motor may prove to be a winning combo for the RA+ tdo4. Don't forget, Mitsu could have made a bigger hotside tdo4 for the RA. I'm going to have to drive one, though, to see...
