To go from the Ralliart to the MR would be 15K$ at least. MSRP on the GSR is around 44000$.

Personally, though, I'd rather have a nice premium car than a bare-bones Evo X.

In Canada, $50k (of MSRP) will almost get you a loaded Evo X MR ($51.5k). The original poster clearly is greatly lacking in the clue department.

To get the price of a Lancer (including the Evo X) in Canada, just multiply by 1.26, which at the current exchange rate is a premium of exactly 20%. Believe it or not, that's good by Canadian auto pricing standards.

Since it costs about $5k to $8k in time, money, and inconvenience to bring a car into Canada from the US, it's not worth it to buy anything less than an Evo X in the US, though the Ralliart may come close to being worth it... except that in Canada we apparently get better Recaros -- hah!
Try and get an MR in Canada for 51.5K$. Hell, when the GSR first got here, it was selling well over MSRP, only recently has it actually dropped down to what it should be. Last I checked, some dealers were still quoting the MR at nearly 60K$. Moreover, if list is 32k$ and an Evo MR lists at 51k$, you're already over a 15k$ difference so apparently I'm not the one lacking in the clue (or math) department. As for saying you'd rather have a fully loaded car than a fast car, drive the fast car and then say that. It's surprisingly difficult to give up performance when you've actually experienced it. Hell I hate some of my friends for letting me drive their STIs, .

under MSRP when just coming out? Lucky CA guys, I'm sure it will be above MSRP around here for awhile. If I could somehow get one under MSRP, I would probably get one over the wrx. As it stands now, I don't know. I heard there was a place in Kentucky that you can order the new wrx under MSRP now. But with the premium package, the rex is just over 28k, within about a grand of the RA with the sport package. I don't know, I just want the recaros out of the package. I'm not sure how comfortable the standard seats will be. The interior is one area thats swaying me more towards the RA again as the subie's interior is starting to look dated and the seats look awfully flat and they have no optional seats. But the wrx is about 300lbs lighter than the RA and gas mileage should be better, but the RA has the SST, but the wrx has better after market support, decisions, decisions...

Huh? The premium Ralliart will be about $38.5k, and the premium Evo X MR is $51.5k, so that's $13k, but that's not what you said -- you said the Ralliart versus the Evo, which is really just $32.5k (base Ralliart) versus $41.5k base Evo X). You claim you don't want a premium car, but the gap between the premium Ralliart and base Evo X (which is what really matters) will be $3-5k in Canada, not $15k.

As for buying an MR for MSRP, come down here, I'm sure list price is on if you want one -- not all of us live in overpriced metropolises, which helps when it comes to buying cars and getting enough peace of mind to do simple math... at least you save 8% on sales tax in Alberta, so stop whining!

I have a contract with my dealer to sell me the first Ralliart on the lot at MSRP, and they were kind enough (of course) to let me configure the car. Most dealers will sell you a car for list if you are willing to make a deposit and order well in advance. They can always just order extra cars to sell to suckers who might pay more than MSRP. Of course, paying list price is also getting sucked in, but I ordered my Ralliart in January, so forgive me for wanting it sooner rather than later.

I thought it was more clear but evidently it's not. You only have two options if you want the TC-SST transmission, the Ralliart or the Evo MR. You can get into the Ralliart for 32000$, by contrast the MR is over 50000$. That's more than a 15000$ difference. I don't want a premium car but I'm in the market at the moment anyways. If I was, I wouldn't be looking at the Ralliart, I'd be looking at the Evo GSR. From what I've heard, the GSR is being sold at MSRP here (at least at one dealership). However, I'm somewhat skeptical that will be the case for the MR.

$42,000 AUS is about $36,000 USD, but yes, that really does suck. You guys get Holden though...that's gotta count for something.

I have to agree that if a fully loaded Ralliart is within a few thousand of a base GSX I'll go with the EVO.

I guess that's why I'm waiting until the '10 RA. More stuff for less $$...hopefully.

*Unless* Mitsu comes out with a regular production RS model...ooohhhh.

The wrx has officially announced their 2009 model pricing
http://www.media.subaru.com/
I don't know but $29,495 for a fully loaded ugly looking WRX sounds tempting
sounds better, from the performance and bang for the buck stand point, than the awesome looking mild mannered Ralliart

LOL... this is too easy for Subi.. mitsu always over prices their under powered cars... Subi just added more power and gave a better price... and their brand is more respected... oh well
