[QUOTE=hibby;6063372]With oil remaining high, all plastic and rubber are going to keep increasing. I think all cars will keep getting 3-5% bumps regularly. Not to mention the energy costs to build cars and the increased fuel costs to ship them.

The wrx has officially announced their 2009 model pricing

I don't know but $29,495 for a fully loaded ugly looking WRX sounds tempting
sounds better, from the performance and bang for the buck stand point, than the awesome looking mild mannered Ralliart

Oh it sounds much more tempting.
The problem with the Subaru is that the slush box on the subaru is as week as the SST in the Mitsubishi... so its a moot point. Once you start going beyond 330whp you will destroy gears on a Scooby if you are not careful. This is why many WRXes have PPG gears ($$$) RA gear upgrades in the past. Also, maintenance and modding is going to be easier on the Mitsubishi. The boxer motor can be a pain to work with.
If you don't intend to mod your car, then I would pick the Subaru though. It has a nicer interior, lighter, better factory brakes and the dealers tend to have better customer service (not always).

A fully loaded Ralliart is +/- 31,500, no
, with 235hp versus A fully loaded WRX is 29,500 manual, with 265 hp
The subaru retains its value better. More performance for less money. Uhh its definetly tempting
I thought it was more clear but evidently it's not. You only have two options if you want the TC-SST transmission, the Ralliart or the Evo MR. You can get into the Ralliart for 32000$, by contrast the MR is over 50000$. That's more than a 15000$ difference. I don't want a premium car but I'm in the market at the moment anyways. If I was, I wouldn't be looking at the Ralliart, I'd be looking at the Evo GSR. From what I've heard, the GSR is being sold at MSRP here (at least at one dealership). However, I'm somewhat skeptical that will be the case for the MR.
$26,940 Base MSRP
+$675 Destination
=$27,165
$27,165
+$2750 Recaro Sport Package
+$1999 Navigation Package
=$31,914
Stop talking ****. If you disagree, show me proof that I'm wrong. I already posted the whole options list, with pricing. What more do you need?
[QUOTE=dboz;6063829]The US dollar has dropped far more than 3-5% recently -- prices of materials have nothing to do with US car prices -- it's 100% momentum, and the only possible direction for prices is up (you know, barring prices in the rest of the world falling by 30-50%, or more, if the US dollar continues its downward spiral over the next few years).
Well lets see, the lancer doesn't exactly have a better interior, it uses more or less the same plastics, the same vinyls and the same basic layout. All manufacturer's jackup the prices on their accessories. The brakes are actually pretty damn good, I've done a few track seasons using the stock pads and haven't had a single problem. The transmission is fine as long as you don't abuse it.
