It's almost inevitable, as it's very likely that the US dollar will continue to decline in the coming years, due to the teetering economy and staggering national debt.
US national debt is still under 40% GDP. $31600.00 per person. After all the extra expenses of 9/11 and Iraq and several major hurricanes. So I would not say it is staggering. Concerning and headed in the wrong direction for sure. I think you miss the boat on cars though. The whole reason manufacturers get into the US market is because the US can afford higher prices making cheap foreign labor more leveraged.

Getting a little political aren't we. Next it'll all be Bush this and Bush that. Well I say bull Bush. Lets get back at hand with what you think the new #'s th Recks is putting out will force Mitsu to do? I think it will force them to put the manny out to recoupe some sales. This would drop the weight allow for higher and harsher starts form the Mag peeps to put out better numbers. With a change of the filter or better exhaust later, they will match it anyway for HP. But the fact is the Recks has the stick in this fight and that affects alot of opinions for those trying to keep it sporty.

An exhaust is probably the best mod you can do to a turboed car.

Hmmm I thought intake is the more worthful upgrade for Turbo cars rather than exhaust. Since usually stock exhaust system was tweak more on turbo and has more free flowing the regular exhaust.

Nope, intake usually does jack all for a turbo car since they generally come stock with a very good system. The easier you can make it for the turbo to spool up, the more power you can make.

I was checking out the injen site and they claimed an increase around 25-30 hp with an sri, was this with other mod's? or is it just that exhaust mods net a much better gain??

I call BS on that gain, without a tune most intakes lose power.

that's what I mean, are they quoting it with a tune??

Also, for us folks in canada, is it possible for our car's to work year round with a piggy-ecu tune, as I've heard that the cars won't properly adjust for the diverse weather conditions?

I'm guessing they pulled the number out of someone's ***. A piggyback can work year round if it's a good system.

So, does a tune make that much of a difference from stock? Should that be the first thing done to a car, or should the normal boltons be thrown on first? I am so dense to most of this. I never had much money and just finally got a good job. So now that I have the money I would like to build a weekend warrior, but the evo is still out of my price range.

I'm so confused about this intake thingie. The forum for my other non mitsu car says the intake helps alot on my turbo car. They have test dynos that really increased around 20 hp by different people. And these are not from the sellers or the intake manufacturers. Its just regular consumer like us. And alot of them posted it. So I dont know what tune needed.

All they said is make sure you disable your negative on the battery while installing the intake. So after the installation your ECU should had reset to learn the new intake you had just installed which would tune by itself to the new setup, giving more HP.

Which one is damn true anyways!........

It depends on the car to an extent. On the Evo and STI, the intake isn't a restriction so replacing it does nothing but add noise and throw off the ECU. Most cars now require a tune to operate an intake correctly since most intakes change the diameter of the MAF tube slightly.
