I haven't yet. Just thought if any of my fellow evo owners had the same situation but I also posted in the cobb forums. I'll call cobb first thing tomorrow morning.

We can most certainly "reboot" your AccessPORT. Call our customer service line at 801-713-0035 for details. We will need an accident and/or police report so have that ready.

what about the other way around?
how safe is it to use a much higher octane rating than the map requires?
i'm running a perrin stage 1 93oct map and have been thinking about trying out a tank of 98+oct that a local station sells for stock cars. would that be bad?

In a word, yes. A few octane points higher is ok, but running race fuel (is it leaded?) on a pump gas map would hurt performance and possibly engine longevity. Basically higher-octane fuels burn much slower than lower-octane fuels. The ignition timing is optimzed for the burn rate of 93 octane fuel so going to a much higher octane can have all kinds of unintended consequences (higher EGTs, overly rich mixture, loss of power).

You can mix in a few gallons of 98 with your 93 to give yourself some knock protection, however, but don't run 100% 98 octane without being tuned for it.

Is there a difference in performance gains? It looks like the same gains as w/ the stock filter

Anyone else try the new HKS dropin map yet?

I did, and I just got back from "testing" it out. Let me just get this out of the way first and say that the car imo pulls slightly better up top than the regular stage one map. Is it night and day difference...well no, but after all it is just a panel filter, but it is noticeable. I also did some data logging and had little to no knock.

However, the biggest difference between this map and the regular stage 1 map is the sound. The turbo and BOV are extremely noticeable now even when the temp outside is 90+ (as it is right now).

For those with an AP that want to hear either their turbo or BOV get an HKS filter and run this map you won't be disappointed. For those like me who simply wanted a little better air flow over stock...this is also the map for you.

Anyone else have an opinion?

Hi Guys.. I just got my AP for the MR. I loaded up the stage 1 MAP for the HKS Panel Filter. Right away I could tell the difference. The car pulled so much better and smoother. After I tested it out for about 30 minutes I came home and decided I would remove the boost pill, and I'm glad I did. I fell the car is getting the most out of the new tune. I can't wait to get the exhaust and a custom tune...db
