As far as being able to interchange ECUFLASH and AccessPORT maps, no, this is not possible. Either flash will overwrite the other. In addition, if you were to reflash an ECU that was married to your AP, that wouldcause issues. In short, overwriting ROM the AP flashed on would delete the AP from your ECU. The AP would then be useless as it is married to an ECU that has the AP protocols erased. So your AP would be useless. Unless you first unmarried your AP, but then it would not be installed on your car and again, would not be able to be used on the car.

You can have your car ProTuned using the AccessPORT, there is no need to install yet another type of engine management.

You're saying if I unmarry the AP then I cant ever use that AP on my car again? The reason I ask this is because some tuners dont use Cobb Protuner...the particular one I wanted to go to only tunes w/ ECUFLASH...

No, once unmarried the AP can go on Any Evo X (re married)
why have your tuner use the Cobb software for your ap?

So this could be all in our head, or just coincidence...but it seems like since we updated to the latest firmware beta the car has run strong consistently. (about a week). Before that it was like some days it was a dog. Anyone else wanna join in my fantasy, or am I crazy?

I've sent a PM to the guys at Cobb asking the same question. If/when I hear from them, I'll post it here.

If anyone who has an AP can jump in, that would be great.
Unfortunately, none of their shelf maps cured the bad idle in X.

so has it been confirmed/unconfirmed that the dealer can tell how many times the car has been flashed? I want to get an AP but if the dealer can tell that i've flashed the car, i dont wanna do it.

Using Stage 2 map with Fmic and piping upgrades

Has anyone here tried running a Stage 2 map with just a aftermarket FMIC and upper and lower piping?

Where would you start tweaking to make the car run less rich with a upgraded FMIC and piping?

I just purchase my evo x and i was thinking on purchasing a cobb ap. The question i have is if theres a base map for a 92 octane. It seems like the only premium I can find easily here in washington state without going at only certain ones. The only thing I found at cobbtuning website was 91 and 93 octane. this is the only thing keeping me purchasing this product.

I'm also running the cobb stage 2 93 with stock intake, UICP, FMIC and TBE with no problems so far.

I actually get very little knock count running this map VS Perrin's stage 3 map which is designed for my mods but still gave me knock as high as 2.50.

I plan to get a custom tune, I've just been too lazy to drive 2hrs to Cobb.

Maybe I am the only one who is confused by this, but what I think you are saying is can you run a Stage 2 map with ONLY a FMIC and UICP and LICP. The answer to that would be no.

Now like all the others in this thread thus far have said if you meet the TBE requirement and want to add the FMIC and ICP's than yeah you should be good.

Am I missing something?
