My first post here guys and probably a bit of a newb question...

I want to start logging my EVO 5 so bought a copy of EVOscan and a cheap VAG COM cable from ebay(a search on the net said this cable will work)

My problem is with drivers. Ive not installed the drivers that came with the cable instead ive tried to use the drivers that come bundled with evoscan/ecu flash software but no matter what i do i can not get the drivers to install with the cable.

In device Manager i get USB 2.0serial under "other devices" with the yellow exclamation mark, if i try and update driver from there using the bundled drivers i get the message ...windows can not find drivers..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2006 evo 9 mr with injen intercooler piping, intake, magna flow catback, turbo xs manual boost controller and a pro tune.. I recently failed california OBD II emissions test because my ecu isn't storing any information in it.. when I hook up my obd II meter it says "no DTC's are available...my question is can I buy another stock ecu off ebay and swap it out with mine, put all of the stock intake, intercooler piping etc back on and smog it? BTW i am in california and I bought the car with the tune installed and I have no Idea who tuned it..Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place I am new to this! thankyou

 

How do you make a shift light for evoscan GPS? I have the image, x y location and size, but don't know how to address it. I want to start it at 7k. Any help is appreciated.

 

MalibuJack, how can i live tune my evo without worrying about reading the map and then writing it to my ecu,
i heard that you can live tune your stock ecu using ecu flash,
how is it done?

 

Is there any way to quickly figure out the difference between two maps?

 

atmdyno: You will need to use ELM (Evo Live Map) for tuning on the fly

Butt Dyno: I use excel, i find it easy this way.

How do i disable the egr??
My egr was removed long time ago before i reflash my ecu, so i didnt have that problem of check engine for egr
After we tune the car it appear the check engine light. Then i scan the car and it says code P0400 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction

hi, sorry for my ignorance but i didnt find out how to tune using ELM, i couldn't open any hex file that i used to open using ecuflash, is it because i have the light version of the ELM?

 

one more question,
if i replaced my stock map sensor with a 3bar gm map sensor, how can i calibrate my voltage values using ecu flash

not sure, i was looking at the omni 4 bar one, just want to know how to install one (ie, do i need a specific map in my ecu) and what pin to tap off the standard ecu.
