MELLON!!! Whats up man? School is kicking my butt lately as usual. Hopefully I can get down to see you sometime soon. Ran into your sidekick on the way back from tupelo the other day. Saw him pull up in the black evo and said hi and figured i was about to get smoked. I am WAY down on power but Ive got to figure out why my LC-1 isnt logging. Its displaying on my gauge but not logging. Probably a loose wire.

Now that your car is fixed I want a ride. Maybe one weekend now that its getting warm I can get down to see ya. Let me know what your schedule looks like on the weekends. I wish I could make it down to eat lunch on thursdays but I think school tries to prevent that and makes thursdays hell.

Good to know you are still alive and maybe one day Ill get this program done and make it useful. You have all but disappeared lately, hows life going? Keep in touch brother.

hey quick question for you guys, i'm trying to determine the correct "correction factor" for the VDR here in utah but i'm having some issues doing so. after doing some research i found a correction calculator that helps me figure it out, however, i'm not sure how to find the vapor pressure. Is it asking for the vapor pressure of the fuel (in this case e85) which is .09? or is the vapor pressure not a constant but a variable? if so, how do i figure it out?

is it also possible to have a less than 1 correction factor? because if i did everything right, with air temps of 50F, 29 inches of hg for atmospheric pressure, and .09 inches hg for vapor pressure I get a correction factor of .983. We are at 4500 ft if that helps. thanks for the help in advance.

I am using latest VDR with MS Excel 2007, i have a few issuses

- VDR doesnt like 4th gear logs, it doesnt produce a graph, however if I select 3rd gear it does show the graph, but obviously with a much lower hp number. It does this with preset vehicles or user defined.

- Doesnt seem to like been saved once I put a new run/log in it, so I dont bother any more

Great spreedsheet and very helpful for tuning, any help would be great, I see a few others are having the same issue with 4th gear logs

Phil

The correction factor for 4500 ft would definitely be greater than one, so that calculator is not correct. I'd just go on air density correction (altitude and air temp).

i'm sorry for the ignorance, but what do you mean by that Mr. Fred?

do you mean, go by the change in atmospheric pressure in inches of hg? because if so, sea level atmospheric pressure in inches of hg would be about 30.06 and up here its 29.63 so if you divide ours by what it should be its only a difference of.015 so are you suggesting that my correction factor in this case should consist of 1.015 then? that still seems a little low thanks for the input.

4500 feet translate to approx 12.5 psi or 25.4 inHG.

Check this out:

http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/ai...ure-d_462.html

What you see reported on weather stations as 29.63 is relative (barometric), a terrible way not to scare "people" off. Your absolute pressure goes down as altitude goes up......it's physics.

I'm guessing the correction factor should around 1.16......vapor pressure doesn't change much or influence the engine power output enough to worry about it. Try .1 inhg vp as the standard assuming temperatures in Utah now is around 75 F

if you must know your vapor pressure; use this:
http://www.csgnetwork.com/vaporpressurecalc.html

you only need temperature and dew point to get absolute vp

First of all i'd like to congratulate you on a great dyno tool, just to add some input i've noticed that you can't get a 4th gear run graph in comparison pull. Also if you switch to metric in the user setting you cannot get a 4th gear graph in either base or comparison mode.

what smoothing is more accurate 8 or 12? if i set it to 8 my peak torque shows at 4400rpm, if i set it to 12 it shows at 4700~ ? this is a major concern for me, as im trying to get my peak torque to hit as early as possible.

Hey Jack,

I know its been a while. Any chance you think you can take a look at 4th gear in the comparison pull section for the Evo X? The base pull I did in 4th also looks very wavy with a smoothing factor of 10, but the pull felt reasonably smooth (and a 3rd gear pull felt the same and mapped very smooth at that factor).

Thanks as always!
