There's always a chance it could surge so I'm sure some people prefer just not taking the risk, and giving the buyer more choices for customization is never a bad thing. Others are going to want it just for the larger 3" inlet diameter.

yep, and I'm going to run a 4" intake with a reducer to the 3" housing so there should be plenty of airflow

You could always ask for the 3" inlet w/o anti-surge ports, like my EF2.5 The EF3 compressor wheels seems to have no issues breathing through a standard size intake though, at least from what I've seen.

I'm a ricer and I like the look of the 3" antisurge

Plus I'm trying to push this on the stock block, so if it creates a small amount of lag then that only helps keep my power curve to the right and hopefully my stock block sealed up with no windows

I'd much rather build the block out of choice as opposed to necessity... I need to get my car back on the road. I'm working on it more than I drive it. I only put 4k miles on it and I've owned it for over a year

If it makes you feel better, the IX I'm currently working on has only seen about 3k miles in the past 2 1/2 years. Really clean IX GSR SE with barely over 20k miles on it.

wow, sounds like a good condition car...

I got mine with around 44k in october '11 and I still haven't crossed over 50k. I enjoy working on cars just as much as I do driving them, but everyone gives me **** because I work on it more than I actually drive it

^^ Nice numbers for an EF2 on a MD.

Are the turbosmart wastegates ALL preloaded to 18psi when they come from MAP? Or do I need to do something to mine?

Thank you.

You can order them in different spring rates. I was told mine was a 22 psi but we put a tester on it and found out it was only 18 psi spring. you can adjust the arm on the wga to put more tension on it. If you dont tighten it down far enough the wga will stay slightly open and spool really late, my first pull full spool was 5500rpm so we had to tinker with it a bit.

If you install all 3 springs that come with it, it should be around 22-23 psi base pressure

I cant wait to go either EF4, BB FP Black, or BB 6262! All look very promising, for now the stock Evo IX turbo does well for my goals!

I had selected the 18psi spring when I purchased and when I installed my new turbo it was indeed preloaded to 18psi.
