Probably the mivec settings I use and ignition timing. Also Im still on stock cams which I have heard helps spool the turbo a bit quicker but on the flip side doesnt give the same high top end numbers as cammed cars do.

So far so good tho. Very happy with the ef3 so far

He has an X, not an 8/9.

Cars are fatter which help spool with more load and also our mivec helps more. Pretty standard spool on the X.

Can someone help me out? Please don't flame me. I picked up an EF3. Is the turbo fed oil from the head? My tuner has no history with this turbo and I got it used and have no clue. Thanks in advance

It needs oil from the oil filter housing.

I got it used...so no accessories, hence you can see my dilemma. I have no clue about install so I can really help him out. So I thought I'd ask. And it's for an Evo 8.

Easiest thing I would say..call MAP and see if you can but just the lines..The sock lines from his turbo may work, not sure tho

Gaahhhhh! If you have an Evo IX you can run the factory line from the head. If you have an 8 you need the install kit (goes from oil filter housing or you buy the the install kit with the revised Evo IX oil feed line)

Pick one

Also please tell me your using a tuner who has tuned Evos before? The fact he doesnt know anything about MAPs turbos is not inspiring.

So I took my car to the track this weekend and ran 3 passes. Car was originally tuned in Kansas and has not been retuned in Texas, but here was the VD sheet from when it was originally tuned. It probably makes a bit less power now because it was pretty cold during the tuning (34*F)

1st run 1.86 60-ft, 12.34 @ 120.5mph
2nd run 1.58 60-ft, 12.16 @ 112mph (got knock at top of 4th and let off the gas)
3rd run 1.84 60-ft, 12.43 @ 119.4mph

I really wish the 2nd run would have been clean, but I had to lift when my CEL flashed. I nailed the launch and hit every gear change just right.... I was really hoping for an 11sec run, but regardless I would have been kicked out because at SAR you need a 6-point cage for 11.99 and faster. The other 2 runs I kind of bogged the launch, but it's still much better than when I went on my 18" wheels and couldn't do better than a 13.1 because I was spinning... This was on stock BBS 17" wheels with BF goodridge tires I think, basically just normal street tires at 25psi

weird. my civic ran a 12.1 @ 116mph and a 2.1 60', all while running out of 4th gear at the big end ( i can't remember if i shifted to 5th or held 4th).
i don't understand how you didn't easily run an 11.XX.

120 trap is about 420whp dynojet. so you were either losing mph due to driving or just the car is making alittle less power now maybe vs when the graph was built.

I had another guy that made about 460whp and trapped 126. everyones different, but a 120 trap should have gotten you a 11 with a good pass.

That 12.16 @ 112mph would have been an easy 11 sec pass if you hadn't gotten out of it.

whatever you did to get your 60ft that good do it again next time out
