So how long have you been running the car with both of them gutted? Exterior wise, have the hood or trunk start to sag at all?
Thanks; the hood has been gutted since 12/09; the trunk since summer 2011. Neither has sagged, or started to look weird, and I don't expect them to.

I've actually added back a lot of weight recently... aero stuff (DIY front splitter, much taller custom risers for my APR GTC-300 wing, including reinforcements to the inside of the trunklid where the wing mounts, and 1/8" stainless steel guy wires/turnbuckles to eliminate lateral flex) and I've added a 60952 Autopower bolt-in roll bar, which is 61.4 pounds. I realize the bolt-in roll bar is not very good for actual rollover protection due to the possibility of the feet punching through the sheetmetal floor of the car, but it does also provide an excellent mounting point for the shoulder belts of my six-point harness.

So my car's certainly not very light anymore... over 2900 lbs. Even before, it wasn't all that light, because abiding by the ruleset for SCCA SM class restricts you from doing most of the "easy" weight removal, such as gutting the entire interior. For SM, basically all you can do to lighten the interior is remove the rear seats/seat belts and the audio equipment, and replace the front seats with lighter ones.

Took some weights from door items:

Front Window - 6lb 4oz
Front Window Motor - 2lb 13oz
Front Door Panel - 5lb 0 oz (everything that can be unscrewed was removed)
Side View Mirror - 2lb 8oz
Front Door Hardware - 4lb 1oz (everything else in the door except the window trim items, including speaker)

Rear Window - 5lb 5oz
Rear 1/4 Window - 1lb 4oz (includes seal)
Rear Window Motor - 2lb 13oz
Rear Door Panel - 3lb 7 oz (everything that can be unscrewed was removed)
Rear Door Hardware - 1lb 14oz (everything else in the door except the window trim items)

Total is 70lb 10oz removed.
With lexan and flat carbon door panels, I'm thinking right around 50 pounds lighter.

Thank you, Ive been wondering exact weights for a few months now. Did you by chance weigh an empty stock door shell?

hey guys, after removal of sound deadening materials, you guys get more road noise?

I would like a light weight & quieter evo, is that even doable?

i just removed all that **** recently. Haven't driven with the rear seats back in yet. With the back seats removed, the sound is the same to me with/without the sound deadening. I have a crazy loud exhaust, that is mostly what I can hear, and the rocks/sand pelting the rear fender area from sticky tires.

Only noticeable change, (keep in mind my loud exhaust), is that I now can hear a whine coming from the t-case or something up front, maybe trans. No deathwhine, just whatever used to be blocked by the firewall I think.

The Evo is stupid loud from the factory. I think the sound deadening is just about pointless as it's loud even with it.

For those of you that have removed the srs system, I am pulling all of the wires from the module to each of the sensor shortly. Also note some have said removing the srs module removes the srs dash light... not true
