The 50 trim is mostly used for auto x and road racing. All you drag racers should look at getting the 35r...

the 50Trim is a great street turbo as well, especially daily drivers.

Do you think this kit will be capable of 500 whp?

Well, if the turbo flows 58 lb/min, it should easily be able to make 500 whp.

As a rough rule of thumb, you can say that 1 lb/min = 10 HP.

Is a non-water cooled journal bearing turbo a good idea for road courses? Without water cooling wouldn't the oil temps soar and put the engine and turbo at higher risk? It would seem penny smart and pound foolish to economize on the turbo kit only to have an oil-related failure in the turbo or the motor.

I think we've been through that before on David's kits... I guess for a drag car a non-water cooled turbo is ok.

475whp on Buschur's Mustang, that's well over 500whp on most dyno jets, that would be very high for a 50 Trim. Don't get me wrong, the cost value of this turbo kit in my opinion will be top notch, but I wouldn't imagine it making more (a lot more) power than other very good but more expensive 50trim kits like Turbo Trix and etc.

I would never put a non-water cooled turbo on any car that I drive. I know everyone has their own opinions and everyone will follow Dave. But, a non-water cooled turbo has a much higher chance of coking when the car is turned off.

I would rather have the peace of mind to have a water-cooled turbo. It's just foolish not to if you think about it. Will the install be easier....sure. Will the cost be a little less....sure. But is it the right thing to do.....no. But to each their own.
